Charging (Maint) Two 6 volts

I'm installing my two new 6 volt batteries on my Escape 17 which has solar. When in storage, do I need to hook up a two bank charger to maintain or just one charger since they are tied together ? Thanks.

Basically you have one 12v battery system, comprised of 2 x 6 volt batteries. So you will only need one 12v charger and you will hook up accordingly.

James,
I'm confused. If you have 120V AC power available while in storage why don't you just plug in the trailer and let the built-in WFCO charger take care of the batteries?

It is because the covered storage I rent only allows like 3 maybe 5 amps trickle charger to be plugged in. Wont allow the unit to be plugged in.

Another basic electricity question: Since I just need to use two connections, do I hook to the positive pole on one battery and the negative on the other.......or hook both positive and negative on just one battery ? Seems silly questions but with the solar hooked up, thought that might change the hook up .

Series Connection

Your two 6 volt batteries should be connected in series, which is additive, to give you 12V. Connect the negative lead of your charger to the negative lead of one battery (THE LEFT ONE) and the positive lead of the charger to the positive of the OTHER BATTERY (the right side one).

Just a reminder. Most lead-acid batteries never die a natural death (typically around 7 years), rather, most are murdered by their owners because of neglect and numerous misunderstandings. Since you sunk a bunch of hard-earned $$$ into new batteries, you should consider spending an evening checking out the links provided and learning as much as you can about your investment. Good Luck, and hopefully you will report back in 7 years to tell us your batteries are still going strong.
