Fresh water tank cleaning
I have a 2012 19’ that is new to me but I have owned a casita. The water tank on the escape is covered in foam. I’m terrified of what mold might be in it. I know bleach rinse and vinegar. But with my casita that did not remove all of it. Would love to know the best way to rinse and remove from other owners. Thanks

If using Clorox bleach a 1/2 cup in a full tank of 20 or 30 gallons of water sitting over night then drained should kill any bacteria .
Is it possible that what you could see in the other tank stain.

Bleach loses strength … check the bar code
If u use bleach check the bar code ( one more thing to know about ). If u are going to the work of using bleach you might as well use “fresh” bleach

That's definitely a possibility. The difference between RV fresh water tanks and marine ones seems to be an access hatch for cleaning.
I've seen some pretty ugly messes in marine tanks.
I'd do the bleach treatment but let the water drain into a pan and see what comes out. If there's deposits coming out I'd probably repeat the process, maybe also going for a drive to agitate the mix.
I don't have foam covered tanks and I'm surprised that there's no indication of mold. I thought that almost clear plastic might suffer more from mold but apparently not.

For the sake of all others who will be sanitizing their systems in the coming weeks, I wish the posting could remain up as a warning to all. Anyone out there have the authority to make that happen?

Since bleach degrades about 20% per year I wouldn't worry about using older bleach unless it was really old. Just use an extra measure.

After letting it sit 24 hours and draining and refilling is it good to go or do you need to drain again and refill?

Let your nose answer that question. Open the tap, put your nose close by and sniff. No chlorine smell and you're good to go.

The info applies to use of bleach for sanitizing only.
The article states that it can still be used effectively for cleaning.
