The "superior option" is to install a solar disconnect between the Victron controller and the panels. I used a double disconnect.

Is it better for the batteries to be charged daily via the solar panels or would it be better to leave the batteries at 50 - 80% charge and use the VictronConnect app to 'disable' the charger feature? In the second scenario I would 'enable' the charge feature a few days before going away or plug in to shore power to fully charge the batteries before departing.
I run solar full time in the summer months, but I have SiO2 batteries that can be fully charged 24/7/365, not lithium. I also have a whole house battery shutoff in additon to the partial house shutoff that ETI installed. In your case it might be better to disconnect the battery and the solar using the solar disconnect I linked to above.

Enjoy,

Perry

I bought a cover for my first Escape, used it once and determined it was a big PITA to install and take off, sold it and my fiberglass has been fine since then.....
