Plumbing Vent Caps

So both plumbing vent caps had rotted on my 19 and discovered the only replacement that will fit is the Heng caps.
This is due to a weird orientation of the pipe through the roof and you need a wide opening in the vent cap all the way up.
First two pics are clean up and reinstalled new DS vent cap with butyl tape.
Lo and behold I opened the PS vent cap and the third pic is what I found.
Some will recognize the flexible RV water tank filler hose and not pvc pipe. Anyone else discover this? I won't even begin to speculate on this one.
The vent cap uses screws into the FG, but on the PS one two of the screws won't bite because it deforms the cap and pulls too much. I'll probably drill and use rivets on those two.
After the butyl oozes for a week or two I'll seal the base of the caps with the Gorilla tape.

I had to replace the vent cap assembly on my 2013 19' last fall. It looked very similar to the way that yours did. Because the roof was not flat in that area, it took a bit of flexing of the fitting (as well as my biceps) to get the replacement assembly to be fully in contact with the roof. Turned out ok but was a bit of a hassle to replace.

Hi: Greg A... Try # 10 size Robertson screws instead of # 8's or install plastic anchors in the 2 over sized holes.

FWIW when I replaced my rotting vent for the second time on my 2005 Casita I gave it a liberal multi-coat of Krylon Fusion paint before installing. It seems to be helping with longevity, presumably by blocking UV / air exposure (?)

In my 5.0TA I don't have a Passenger Side vent. Could this be why my grey tank goes "glug-glug-glug" when emptying?

I have the same vent hose, at least for the grey tank in my 2017 21C. I also believe there is a bad splice in the hose inside the closet. Had a bad smelling gray tank and had a very strong smell inside the cabinet. Unfortunately, I have Escape built shelves & it is a major project to find the air leak.

The 21s are done the same way - a section of flex tubing stuck up through the roof. A number of us have noticed bad smells in the wardrobe below it and fixed the odor by sealing the flex better where it exits the roof. On my trailer, the hose was leaking at the grey tank too.

Gas from the vent would go back down the gaps in the seal for the flex tubing and gather in the wardrobe cabinet. Something to check if your getting smells.

Look at the bright side - it's easy to fix. On the 21, you can see where it exits to the roof in the upper right corner of the microwave cabinet - it's covered with a black vinyl covering.

Not surprised given that the low vent termination is the same stuff. Definitely a lot easier for them to get to the roof on the passenger side with that versus rigid ABS. The detail at the roof could definitely be better. I’m am surprised they changed the vent from the wheel well location like it was on the early 19’s. It works as a great overflow location. Maybe they didn’t want the risk of smells by the door but we don’t have any problem.

I have lost my cap last summer. Since it is a PVC black pipe, I replace it with the size larger PVC cap. Before installing it I've sculpted 4 notch about 1/2 inch deep by 1/2 wide on the pipe.

I've drill on the side of the cap 4x 1/8 hole and 2 more on the top. Pvc yellow glue on top of the notch on the pipe and voila.
There is not much demand on the venting system since all water come from a 1/2 inch pipe ou a 12 v pump. I've tested it with a full 5 gallon bucket in the sink before and after gluing it. Did not notice any restriction at the dumping station.

Update:
I did go to the next size screw for the two high stress holes on the PS vent as Alf suggested and it did the job. If I replace them again I’ll probably rivet them.
We do get kitchen odors if I haven’t treated the grey tank in awhile. It may be due to this venting as suggested. I really sealed the top of the hose with butyl, so that may help as well.

Although PVC pipe is available in black, that's usually flexible or furniture grade. Black drain-waste-vent pipe is usually ABS... as in the rest of the Escape. Is the pipe at the roof vent definitely PVC?

Sure looks like the right one, but the pics aren't very defining on the ad. Hengs is definitely the cap, so I'd think that's it.

What about changing to Siphon 360 . Won’t degrade either . Not plastic but same material as Oakley sunglasses . Don’t know what the material is called . Very easy install , lots of YouTube video’s . Pat
