Preventing cover from being stolen

Hi, I’m going to be away for a while with someone staying in my home, but it just dawned on me that the cover on my 5th wheel can be easily removed. Any ideas besides a security system that may catch the person but not recover my cover. Maybe I’m being paranoid. Any ideas.

I'd be more worried about the trailer being stolen. I have never seen a post on someone stealing a cover only.

I have a lock on my rig, but I can’t do anything but tie the cover on.

At one time, I owned a car cover that had metal grommets installed along the lower edge...just behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels. It came with a steel cable that you could thread through the grommets, loop underneath the vehicle, then secure the ends of the cable with a small padlock.

If you were looking for something that offers "a perception of security", maybe this would work as a solution. Though it still could be defeated with a sharp utility knife.

I never used the cable lock in practice, as I feared it would just result in increased potential for damaging the car underneath if someone tried to rip it off.

Is petty theft rampant where trailer covers or other odd items are being stolen in your area? I don’t want to minimize your concern but personally I wouldn’t worry about it. Double check your trailer insurance is paid up, lock the trailer up as securely as possible and go enjoy your trip.

Forget about the cover

What about your trailer?
How many thieves would be able to utilize your cover, or sell or pawn it?
The trailer....that's a bigger number.
Have good insurance, some locks, and go enjoy your time away.
