Repairing Gelcoat Stress Cracks
FYI
In their current issue of Epoxyworks technical bulletin, this venerable epoxy supplier has an excellent article on gel coat cracks and repairs. It's more geared to fiberglass boaters and wooden boat builders, but completely relevant to our fiberglass trailers.
See the issue with the barn restoration cover.

Didn't read the article but have worked with Epoxy fg a lot...Always been told that gelcoat won't adhere very well to Epoxy.... Why wouldn't you stay with polyester based products? Not criticism, just curious. Hull and Deck putty are polyester resin (What FG trailers are made of) based products, no gelcoat adhesion issues... Polyester based products are a LOT cheaper as well. I have built at least 11 boats and used epoxy on all but 1. I'm a fan of epoxy but would never use it on a FG trailer repair.

Try reading the article
Not much to say, other than read & learn before you preach.

So I read the article... Still wondering why you think epoxy is the answer.. If you brought your trailer to a fg repair vendor, I doubt 1 in 10 will use epoxy to repair it... Fiberglass boats are routinely lengthened and widened...They don't use any epoxy, they use what was original layup material..Polyester or vinylester resin.
Not trying to preach, trying to learn..

I got no dog in this fight
You do, it seems.
I posted this for the background info of the brittleness and other issues with gel coats, as many other past posts have fretted over the spider cracks on their rigs. Maybe you are not aware of that, either, being a newer forum member .
How one fixes their problem is of no consequence to me.
Adious, & bon voyage
Yesh!
