If putting in more than a 15 amp 120 volt electrical service, it's worth considering 50 amp 240 volt service... in case someone later wants to use the space as a workshop. Also, larger RVs routinely have 50 amp 240 volt service, so if someone wants to run lots of stuff (including multiple air conditioners or heaters) in some large RV later the larger service could be handy.

Anything can be built to an inadequate or excessive level of functionality - the trick is always picking a suitable compromise of cost and functionality.

I was fishing with a mentor and another off duty fireman when I was 15 or so. They were tipping a few cold ones while we stayed dry in a friends cabin. Now I know that fishing was secondary on their full blooded Czech minds. As they would finish a beer they would say, “Reach me another pivo” followed by the never to be forgotten “They don’t have it like this in Prague”. I like my Czech Beer and usually have some on hand.

Hi Brian
I completely agree. I have a 50 just below my 150 sub panel in my other metal building. I was looking at welders the other night. But why invest when I can go over to my brothers place and let him fire up his big Miller? He was certified to 3 inches thick when he welded for John Deere in Dubuque Iowa and P and H Harnishfeger in Cedar Rapids,Iowa . Always Be Prepared.

I believe a Dometic Penguin 11,000 BTU A/C only draws about 12 amps. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you should be able to run your A/C on a 15A or better yet a 20A circuit. Just don't run any other major loads at the same time. Make sure batteries are charged so the converter doesn't try to charge them. If one throws the battery isolation switch the power center can't charge it and the converter only outputs what is required to power a few other low draw items directly like LED lights.

The optimal purchase is often the one made by someone else.

I've had a rule, it's okay to borrow it once but if I need it again I plan to buy it.

Of course as Dave points out, it's not just the borrowing it is the expertise that goes with some items.
