Water Heater door hinge broken

I discovered the door to my water heater is broken. There are two screws holding what I will call “clips”. The “clips” hold the wire bail.

The “clips” are broken. Is this something I can get locally? I’ll email ETI, but seems silly to mail two tiny metal clips across the border if its something I can get nearby.

So the clips and wire bail/hinge are a single part? I do not see any evidence of something being welded to the crossbar/rod. I’m guessing in my version that it was some sort of half-round clip that held the rod/bail/hinge in place. I emailed ETI, see what they say.

Yup. Maybe a poorly executed resistance spot weld?

FYI, I don't think ETI actually mails parts across the border to the US. They take them to the Post Office in Sumas, WA while they are delivering a new trailer to a US buyer. I assume they save lots of $ on postage doing this.

They certainly do save alot of money doing that. I remember when we were having our trailer built, and needed to ship a small package to the factory. To ship the package to Bellingham or Seattle would have been about $12. To ship to Chilliwack was about $105. I would imagine shipping the other way would be costly too.

Part of the reason for the cost is the path it seems to take when you mail something to them. I had a payment sent by mail that had tracking and it went from Florida to New York, sat for awhile at some border inspection site. Crossed over and slowly worked its way across Canada to them. It took 2 1/2 weeks to get to them. And tracking did not work in Canada. I imagine they have the same problem with tracking when it crosses the border too. Whereas something shipped to or from Washington or Oregon seems to hop right across the country.
