Wheel Bearing Service in North Vancouver
Our Escape is due for a wheel bearing servicing and brake inspection and servicing. We inspected the bearings and adjusted the brakes ourselves last year, but would feel more confident having someone do this for us this time around. There are plenty of Escapes on the north shore, so we are hoping to get a recommendation of a reputable and budget wise RV shop.

You might find shops that are cheaper for wheel bearings and brakes, but I'm happy with North Shore RV Centre.

Thanks for the recommendation Glen. They would be convenient for us as our trailer is stored very close. We didnt know if they were reputable being a small shop in an interesting area. We will give them a call in the morning for a quote.

I've learned to approach the back of the shop ( in the lane where the service bay is located ), from the west. Pull over as much as possible so other vehicles can get by, and let them unhitch the trailer and move it about with their fork-lift. Keith and Britt-Marie Stewart are the owners.

We called and booked service at North Shore RV. The price was reasonable and in line with other places we inquired with. They must be busy are they are booking over a month out!

Do you mind saying what their quote was, and how the service went? I'm looking for a good place on Vancouver Island and would be good just to get an idea on proce.

We had our wheel bearings repacked and brakes inspected and adjusted yesterday at North Shore RV Centre. Taking Glenn's recommendation, we entered the alley from the west and they were quick to disconnect the trailer and then park it using a forklift. We dropped of the trailer at 8:30am and picked it up at 4:30pm. The pick up was also easy as they lined up the trailer in the alley so I could just back straight up to it. Keith organized the service and answered a few questions I had. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. The price was $467 including taxes which was exactly what I was quoted on the phone. After 15,000km we still have 80-90% of the brakes remaining. Maybe I should turn up the brake controller!

Best translate that for American members.

I do my own bearings etc. but I've found them handy for RV parts etc. For a small outfit they're still reasonably competitive and it sure beats driving out to Langley or Chilliwack or waiting for online parts.

Since I'm a great fan of helping folks try DIY stuff when I saw your first post I was tempted to say, "If you've previously gone as far as to check the bearings and adjust the brakes yourself, give it one more shot and you'll probably feel confident enough to do itself in the future."
If my coming by would bridge the gap between DIY and taking it to have someone else do the work, no problem. Always happy to help out.

Thanks for the offer - I might take you up on that! I have repacked wheel bearings before, but it was a long time ago and I can't say I had proper instruction at the time. I would feel a lot more confident having someone walk me though it rather than just trying to follow the instructions in the dexter manual. With this being our first trailer, I was far more comfortable leaving it to professionals this time!
