2017 Builds - Conversation and Information

Our 2014 19' (RIP) had a raised floor under the bed. (We had loaned it out to relatives and they rolled it in Utah) The good news it the insurance company was good to deal with and I really like some of the 2017 features. This is also our chance to redo the options.

My due date for the 19 is March 22nd but will not start traveling to get it until next year at this time. I know they willing store the trailer until we get there but should I think about switching the completion date to a date closer to when I arrive?

Yeah, it's raised a bit. The photos looked to me like it was raised more, so I was thinking reversed floor plan. Guess not.

It appears the insulation seen around the rear window as well as the baggage door is the new style and substantially thicker than the old style. In fact it is almost twice as thick as the stock elephant hide if you look at the first picture where it meets over the wheel wheels.

It looks to me like foam sheeting, similar to what is used in packing?

Also note the solar install looks unchanged and the awning mounts to that faceplate shown,

Yes... but the term "elephant hide" is normally used for the Ensolite used on the eggs of the 1970's, due to its texture and its very tough vinyl skin with very firm rubber foam underneath. Escape has always used a much softer foam and vinyl.

It looks like that to me, too: a closed-cell foam, perhaps polypropylene. I look forward to hearing what it really is. Although the wheel wells are covered in clear/white foam, I see a pink sheet inside the right rear access door, and I note that packing foam sheet is available in pink.

I don't think there's any advantage to having it produced any sooner. You'll be waiting either way.

My inclination would be to have the completion date as late as possible. ETI sometimes makes small product changes as they learn things. Having a later delivery date would assure of the most current build possible. There probably won't be any difference between the two dates, but just in case. No point on having it sit around the lot.

And it could make another buyer very, very happy to be moved up in the queue.

I'd make the pick up before the rally in Osoyoos and then attend the rally.

I don't like the idea of it just sitting around the lot.

true..ETI already bailed on the hyped 2017 Dometic powered awning for another brand...hopefully the new insulation and it application technique proves to be solid.

I must have either been asleep or misinformed. Are you saying the 2017 19" has the pole? I don't recall seeing it when I toured the new 19 at Osoyoos.

Or, are you saying they 'should' add the pole? I don't see how the new awning design would benefit from it. The awning is recessed and supported on either end by reinforcement in the shell and backing plates.

I was told by Sarah and confirmed with Tammy that the pole will be standard in the new 2017 models, 19 and 21 and 5.0. It was not installed yet in the 19 Demo.

If your not getting a microwave I really like the way they are adding a third cabinet under the sink.

I would like to see a picture of the pole in the 19' when you get one.

Second switch may be for overhead lights or the awning.

I also like the outlet under the counter extension being moved so it's not under the extension.

It looks like they have moved the coax and electrical for the TV to the fridge wall and out of the upper cabinet.

A 3rd ceiling light has been added above the dinette and no light under front shelf now.

I like it all!
