Another 19 begins

We've been telling ourselves for the last couple of weeks that one of these Fridays it would be our turn to get photos from Escape. So today it happened, 4 weeks from the scheduled completion date

At first blush they don't look like it's much of a trailer yet but even though it's pretty bare I did get some feedback.

Things that I can see that are good feedback to have: extra rear lights are installed, rear bike rack receiver is installed, kitchen and bathroom window cut-outs are done, details of the path some of the hidden wiring takes are visible, type and location of interior support blocks is visible and the cross pieces of angle iron on the tongue have been left off as requested.

So, the dream is becoming a reality, can't wait for next weeks photos

I bet there aren't many trailer companies who send out pictures to customers during the manufacturing process. What fun it is to get these - I remember being so excited when Tammy sent us our first ones.

The second batch of build photos arrived today. It's really moving along now. Good to see that everything is on track as we only have a few days after the scheduled pick-up date to get it ready and head off to the meet at Moab.

If I could only borrow it for this weekend at this stage with everything exposed it would make doing some of the mods that I have planned so much easier.

Third batch and it's really looking much closer to completion with some of the windows in, the awning on, the door installed and the furnace and fridge in.

Starting to hope we can get it before the planned completion date. If not, at least we know that it's, at the very least, on schedule.

These pictures are priceless when one later tries to route some wiring or plumbing and the original location of items is needed, thanks for posting.

Given the progress of the previous photos and relatively small amount of work left in last weeks photos I was really hoping today's photos would show a finished trailer.

Alas, it was instantly obvious that it's not quite finished. The lack of a front window was the tip off. It's on back order and it doesn't look like we're going to get it early. A bit disappointing given the stage of completion and I'd have liked to do some mods before heading off to the meet in Moab. Can't fault ETI because we'll still be getting it on the promised day but still a little frustrating to have stuff I'd like to install but probably won't have time to do before we have to leave.

Hmmm, guess I shouldn't count my egg before it's hatched.

Thumbs up

This looks sooooo cool. Finishing up my build sheet with Tammy today. No more changes after April 15th. What a date for that, eh? So far holding myself in reasonable check with only around $5k in options. Ya only live once.

My 19 is due June 23rd and seeing others being built, finished, delivered/picked up and launched is like nothing I've ever experienced before. It's parental and I don't even have any kids. LOL I find it so entertaining that grown adults get as excited, if not more excited than a kid around Christmas about their Escapes. Makes me feel young again.

Just think about how many times you have purchased a one of a kind item! We all have opportunities to go with the crowd. There aren't many times that something is built "just for us." I can honestly say that every option that I added to our 19' Escape was there for a well thought out reason. You will love your trailer and the many memories that you will have with it.

OK, things are moving faster now. The missing windows now in and we're scheduled to pick it up and take it home on Tuesday

Great, that leaves me a few days to install a two battery battery bank and all the wiring that goes with it as well as an inverter and fabricate a tongue box. Then it's off to the meet in Moab, the four corners thing for a couple of weeks and then up to Osoyoss for the Escape meet.

The table isn't installed by my request because I don't like the two pedestal setup and I've fabricated my own table support. If it works I might even post a photo

Looks so sweet. You'll be defining happy camper this year. This will be the best summer in the history of ever! Myself also purchasing a 19 doesn't make me impartial in my opinion tho. :

OK, last post in this thread. The new born trailer is home.

The walk through was good to have, never had an awning before so it was good to practice opening and closing it. Dennis installed the WDH and off we went, even managed a Timmy stop, no doubt the first of many.

Towed well but at first the MPG readings from my gage were pretty horrible but then I think the ECU must have adapted to the new loading etc. and the numbers improved. We stopped at the first rest stop just to check things and all was good.

I towed the Scamp with a box cover but because of the higher front on the Escape and the sometimes nuisance of having items just a little too tall to fit under the cover I decided to go with a canopy. No big investment though, $40 but I had to clean it up and paint it. I like the sloped top and I'll probably make a wind deflector also. I also made rear doors which make it much easier to access than with a tailgate. All in all, a pretty good day.
