Camping in the Jefferson National Forest (Virginia) this last weekend. No, that first picture is not my daughter, that's my wonderful wife sitting at the table! Second picture is grilling the hamburgers over a campfire, on a hill, next to the lake. Does it get any better than this?

Re: Escape 5.0's

Hi: HokieEscape: Dan... Sure looks like a 5.0 moment too me.
In Aug. we are heading back to our camping beginings at Arrowhead Prov. Pk. Huntsville Ontario. We started here with our Boler 4 years ago. I sure hope "Our Escape Hatch" will accomodate 3. Our eldest daughter will be coming along for a well deserved break and some canoeing with her old Dad!!! The park is about 2500 Hectares( 1 Hectare= 2.47acres) with two lakes many trails one river and one waterfall. I will take lots of pic's to post too!!! Alf

Dan, thanks for the clarification. I remember a shot, I believe on your blog, where I was wondering if it was your daughter, or you somehow won over the heart of a much younger lady. Now I know the later is true.
The Hokie Escape is looking great.

Re: Escape 5.0's

Hokie Escape,
You have probably had this question before but do you have a standard hitch or a slider? I have the same tow vehicle and was wondering what hitch to use? Do you have to watch you turns so as not to pinch the camper against the cab?

Hi Gibby. The Frontier long bed needs only a standard hitch. And no problems with turns. I mount two 10 kayaks on the roof of my Frontier and still can make every turn. Now, I can't back it into a 90 degree angle and do that, but turning is no problem. The short bed as I understand it, would need a slider hitch. Escape Artist (Alf) has a slider on his.

Re: Escape 5.0's

Hi: 3gibby...Welcome too!!! We have a full size shortbox GMC pickup with a Husky 16 Slider hitch. It is overkill to say the least but was put in the truck B/4 the trailer. We have 4" of cab clearance on a 90* turn and I have yet to pull the slider...don't even know how it functions. I must read up on it!!! A smaller shortbox truck would be another story. Alf
