From Chilliwack to Southern California

What a trip!

We are proud owners of a brand spankin' new Escape 19'! With an orientation/pick-up date of 11/25, we made a quick (2 day!) trip from Southern Cal. to Vancouver, B.C. We spent a day in Vancouver before heading to Chilliwack for our much anticipated pick-up... a truly beautiful city.

The rest of our trip was filled with... RAIN! Rain, rain, and more rain during each and every day of our trip back. I would love to tell you that the drive to Chilliwack was beautiful, but I couldn't see it through the rain Everyone at Escape was fabulous, and we were so pleased with our trailer. It came out just as we had hoped.

The entire journey was a great learning experience. Here are just a few nuggets...

We decided on the Andersen hitch. After taking a look at our tow vehicle, both "Dad" (not sure if it's Tammy or Reace's dad) and Rhonda thought the Andersen would be best. They even mentioned that some are buying the Andersen for their 17's and loving it. The 19' towed absolutely beautifully. We hardly noticed it was behind us most of the time, and we had zero trouble with sway or pulling of any kind in high wind areas. Very impressed.

Condensation is a real thing. Rookie mistake... we went up with no dehumidifier thinking surely it wouldn't be THAT big of a deal. Clearly, we are from Southern Cal. Oops. Even in only cool (not cold) temperatures, we woke up each morning to drippy windows. We dutifully wiped everything and aired out the trailer during the day. It dried well during the day with venting, but we will be ordering hypervent for under/around the mattress and a dehumidifier pronto, I think!

We are a family of four, with two daughters. Both of the girls took turns trying out the cot option and both slept well. I wasn't sure how they would like it, but they both thought it was great fun. It was easy to put up and take down, so I highly recommend for anyone with young children.

Here are some pictures of our Escape 19', "Flight Risk:"

Nice! Too bad about the rain, but your 19 is beautiful. They start building ours next week! Can't wait.

Congratulations! Nice trailer! Fortunately, in Southern California we have a much longer camping season than many of our Northern neighbors. We hope to camp with you sometime. Check out the California SCABs group for us CA folks...a scary bunch!

Looks awesome, you will have many memorable trips in your trailer, most will be in the sun shine.
Our new 19' is sitting in the ETI lot waiting for us to pick it up in the spring, can hardly wait.

Jamie, thanks for the info regarding the condensation, hadn't really thought about it that much being located here in very dry Las Vegas. I am scheduled to pick up my 5.0 TA on Dec. 15, but am considering putting it off until the spring. Your experience is making me think twice about a winter pick up. Congrats on a beautiful new Escape!!

JaimeA, To bad you had to run into so much rain. We were in Chilliwack the first week of Sept. and the weather was perfect. Will be picking up our 21 next Sept. I had googled condensation in trailers last week and from what I was reading, it looks like some type of dehumidifier might well be in order. Plus one 21 owner has had his mattress cut 2 inches smaller to keep it away from the walls. Will be looking into that. It also might help making the bed easier too. Your trailer looks great and you will get many years out of it. Enjoy Loren

Congrats, beautiful trailer. You got a serious dose of PNW weather, now it'll be spoiled in SoCal!

Greg - yes, new to trailering. We have borrowed my parent's giant Class A motorhome many times, but decided we wanted something smaller. We landed on molded fiberglass and then Escape for the quality and customization. Hope to meet you at some point!

You made a great choice on trailers. Welcome to the family, we're a bunch of renegades down here! Working on Beachfest2 sometime in September up at Jalama Beach. Hope you can make it. Keep an eye on the forum for details. Probably no poutine on the menu.

Congratulations on your purchase and safe trip. BTW it hardly ever rains in the Vancouver area. I'm sure the weather you got was an anomaly

I like your interior trailer choices
I'm wondering what tow vehicle you have.

Congratulations on your new trailer. Hope to meet you in Jalama for the 2nd annual SCABs rally in September. Maybe we can talk HotFishTacos into making hot fish tacos for all of us again!
We'll be in San Clemente during Xmas week with our 19.

Looks like you went with the rear dinette option-- which makes a lot of sense to me. Beautiful trailer. I like the fabric choices.

From the photos the u-shaped dinette is up front. They have the queen bed in back. Same setup we ordered.
