Hi: Doug2000... Down here is south wet Ontario we're not hibernating in our 2 Carnation... just staying indoors. Took the truck to the Dr's office in Hyde Pk., yesterday to thaw it out. The doors would only open on the sunny side!!! Alf

Surprised you're not heading to FL this year All now you can. We postponed our AZ departure until tomorrow, cold, snowy, blowing here. But trailer is packed except for the things that'll freeze. Can hardly wait to get outa dodge!

Wow Jon, I am really envious. That looks like an awesome setup - wish I was there.

That is a lot of solar panels; I know you've discussed this before but remind me how much total battery you're feeding with those panels?

We head south on January 15!

I've read that International Falls has the coldest temps in the country during winter. I don't know if this is fact or fiction. If so, what is it about the area that makes it so?

I was told that when the Norwegians came to Minnesota they stole some cold temps and brought them with to the New Country. The Swedes were very upset!

Enjoy,

2 130 watt panels on the roof & a 300 watt flexible portable. Connected through a Victron 100/50 to 3 Battleborn 100 amp hour lithium batteries under the rear seat.

Maximum output was 538 watts, minumum 52 watts.

Here is an image of the Victron 100/50 display for the last month. White is bulk, the thin line is absorption, and the dark blue is float.

Int. Falls sits in the middle of the continent, far, far away from oceans, which can moderate temps. It's also near a cold part of Canada, eh? It sits in the path of Canadian high pressure systems moving South to the tropics, eh? It may be in a low spot, which can decrease temps. I found this about cold sinks:
https://weather.com/science/weather-...cold-explained
It's up North, way up North, ya?
They're not talking Polar Vortex with this current cold snap here in the Midwest. Just January weather, and -8F predicted here tonight.

Do you have to travel with a ladder in order to get up there?

Yes. I carry a double folding 6' ladder in a 5" fence post I added next to the sewer hose storage container.
