Jim and Lisa's Escape 19'

Well, we am now the proud owner of an Escape 19' travel trailer.

After a whole bunch of emails and a couple phone conversations, along with one visit to the Escape shop before it was put into production we settled in on a couple things that we would have done at the factory. I have no doubt that I will be doing some customizing of things myself as well later, I already have some ideas and am sure I will be having more.

We were to pick up our trailer on Friday and were alerted ahead of time they would need the full day to get it ready. Reace and two of his employees, Denise and Rene, all stayed and worked hard to get it out the door for us at about 6:30 that evening. Many thanks to them all for this great final effort.

We then spent 2 nights ant the Fort Langley meet, and 1 night at the Shuswap Lakes. While we do have a bit of thinking to do in how to pack everything yet, the trailer performed wonderfully for us. I really believe without a doubt this trailer was the right choice for us (though we knew that going in). It is a great product.

It towed great behind our Pilot, without using a weight distribution hitch. It did have to gear down on the real steep parts of the mountain passes we went through (about 6 times). But, we did travel from near the ocean right across a few mountain ranges to get to the prairies. We used near 25% more fuel going home then going out. It must be noted that not only were we towing an additional weight near 3,000 lbs, but it was well over a total of 1,000' elevation drop on the way out, and over a 1,000' gain in elevation on the way home. PLUS, we were constantly dropping and climbing, with little flat land covered. Once we did hit flat ground though, our mileage was nottoo much more then it would be without the trailer.

I don't have any photos processed, and actually took very few this inaugural trip, but will take some interior photos soon and post them. I will also continue to add to this thread as we further use the trailer, and show what all that we do with in, how we use it and the minor modifications I have in store for it.

Re: Jim and Lisa's Escape 19'

I have been really slack about taking photos of my trailer, but here is one on the road in Idaho from last May.

Jim, THAT is one beautiful picture! Only you can't see how the telescope retracts into the roof from that angle : - )

I never got that option, only special customers did.
