New Fiberglass Box & Lights!!!!

Last week I made a trip to Chilliwack to have the newly available fiberglass tongue storage box installed on our 19' Escape. The new box replaces a metal box that we were using. My younger son, who also uses the Escape, thought it would be a good idea to have a storage box on the trailer front and obtained the metal box and Reace installed it for us when the trailer was being built. The metal box served us well, but when I saw pictures of the new box that metal box didn't look long for this world. This was confirmed at the Spring NOG, when I checked out Hippo's box on his 19 footer. This was déjà vu. When I had a Casita and saw the 19' Escape at the Oregon Gathering, the Casita was history and so it is when I saw the new fiberglass box, that metal box was history.

Reace and his crew did a super job of installation and I could not be more pleased with the new fiberglass box. If anyone of you is thinking of ordering an Escape or already have one, do give serious thought of adding the new fiberglass box, you won't regret it.

Here are some pictures of the old and new boxes (I hope the pictures come out!!!)

Also added were additional rear lights that Hippo has on his Escape. After my wife recently got rear-ended and while going to Chilliwack and seeing a very l o n g traffic backup on westbound Provincial Route 1, additional lights made a lot of sense. Again, the install was super - the employee who mounted the lights spent considerable time measuring where to mount the light and drill the required holes. He could have been a brain surgeon when he drilled the holes and not damage the interior wall covering.

Here's a picture of the new lights.

With this trip to Chilliwack, I got to see the new facilities. And it is nice, very nice.

This was, I think, my 5th trip to Chilliwack and each time Reace is extra-ordinary helpful and accommodating and Tammy is gracious as always. As we all know it's a genuine pleasure to know and do business with them!!!!!

Where does the battery go?
On my 19' it is on the front tongue.

The batteries (I have two 6 volt batteries) are inside the box. The box has provisions to hold the batteries in place in the middle of the box.

Re: New Fiberglass Box & Lights!!!!

At the Spring Oregon NOG Mr.Rick saw my front box on my new 19ft. He came by several times to measure, Box #2, off the line in 2010. I am happy he admitted the box made the trailer look finished. Yes the batteries are in the box. The upper tail lights was my idea to be more visible on the highway.

Re: New Fiberglass Box & Lights!!!!

Anna-Marie, yep more than likely that was me heading home. I left Chilliwack about 4 or so on Thursday and was on I-5 from Bellingham to the Edmond's exit.

Re: New Fiberglass Box & Lights!!!!

Anna-Marie, is this 15" a model of a full sized trailer then?

I really don't feel the need for more space yet, but when I do I will likely get one of these boxes added on, they do have a nice finished look.

We have ordered our 19" with the tongue storage box and also the extra LED brake lights. Your post confirms we made the right decision. Thanks for showing the pictures!

Re: New Fiberglass Box & Lights!!!!

Ah the silver tube. My younger son and his wife also uses the Escape for camping and to tail gate at Washington State University football games as they are WSU grads. You'll note the he changed to spare tire cover to one that he felt was more appropriate. Back to the tube. It holds a flag pole that flies a WSU flag. I'll bet no one knows where the silver tube originally came from. If you guess right, I'll give you a beer at the Escape Rally.

BTW, the only connection that my wife and I have with WSU was paying the bills. We both graduated from a different school.

Obviously its the outer casing of a fired Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG). Probably early '90s era Desert Storm.

Nope, not part of a RPG, but you are getting close.
