Our 19 makes it home!
After months of planning and anticipation, we make the trek to Chilliwack and picked up our 19 on Tuesday. That day was a long day... as so many before us have done, we attended orientation at 0830, rolled out of ETI at 1200, met up with our trailer at Bob's around 1315, hitched it to our truck, walked our dogs, had lunch at Bob's, and pulled out and headed south. We are total newbies to RVs, had never towed anything larger than a utility trailer, and had never seen any Escape until well after we had completed our build. Many hours later we were able to find a lovely Forest Service campsite by early evening and set about implementing all we had learned so recently at orientation. To make a long story short, by dusk we were sitting under the awning, LED light strip illuminated, sipping a celebratory glass of wine to the sounds of the Skagit River with soft jazz emanating from the stereo Escape had installed. It was sublime! We absolutely love our new 19 and think it's the perfect trailer for us, the sweet spot between towability for newbies and plenty of space for 2. We hitched up the next day and made it home well before dark. Our Colorado diesel pickup towed it extremely well and passed the test of multiple steep grades with flying colors. On the way we were approached by two parties... the first a very nice couple from Montana who had just completed a build for a 19 followed us into a rest stop and asked about our experience, and of course wanted to see our trailer. The second was a gentleman who approached us in a parking lot to ask questions about the trailer and truck... he said he towed a very large trailer with a F-250 and was looking to downsize. I thought this was all remarkable! Anyway, we are thrilled with our trailer, and I thought I'd share to any prospective future owners... we love the trailer, we had a great experience dealing with ETI, and learning about the world of fiberglass trailers has seamless. Our trailer's name is "Zen Purple", by the way, and written on the back. Be sure to wave if you see us rolling, or better yet, come say "HI" if we're camped or parked somewhere!

Smooth pickup for you. Nice that you could get through the day and still get settled in a sweet looking campsite by dusk. You will enjoy the rig Im sure.

There are actually 5 of us, the other 2 weren't in this picture . Love the pics of your pup! Yep I think it's going to keep getting better and better, especially as we get good at towing and setting it up, as well as stocking it with all the items to make life easy. It's a really fun learning process right now! We've been "mock camping" in the driveway for amost 48 hours now, funny.

salmo7000: Thanks for the great story. This should be an inspiration for other newbies that taking the plunge into something unfamiliar can be a fun and rewarding experience. Wishing you many great trips ahead with your new trailer.

We have the 5.0 TA since last January. You will only fall more in love with as time goes on !!! We did a 3 week shake down trip in January to get her home and just finished last month a 99 day trip of Alaska, Yukon, NWT, BC, WA, OR, and CA!! We drove many gravel roads and yes what a great trailer we all have purchased !! ENJOY !!
