Our New Escape 17b: SittEscape

Add us to the list of very satisfied and happy Escape owners. We seem to just bask in the contentment of sitting in it and saying "ah." We love our 17B and had a ball bringing the SittEscape back from Chilliwack via Osoyoos late last month. Here's a shot of the aforementioned vehicle, outfitted in full regalia, complete with bikes and kayak. And, of course, the incredible room with a view we have wherever we go. Tammy and Reese are wonderful, as you all said. Dave too! What a blast! Except for backing up, of course. Hate that!

wow, yes, incredible room with a view. How is the solar panel attached to the roof. Are they bolted through the shell or is it 3m very high bond tape? Thanks and congrats

Ya know, gocamp, I don't know the answer to your question re: bolts vs. vhb tape. We're away from SittEscape out of state. Otherwise, I'd get up there & look. Now I'm womdering too.

Re: Our New Escape 17b: SittEscape

Thanks, Reace. We're finally getting out again this weekend and I am getting SittEscape out of storage this evening. I was going to get my ladder up there and look then. You saved me the time.

Re: Our New Escape 17b: SittEscape

I was not sure whether to post this under Rallys, places to camp, etc, but I felt like this warranted a message to the forum. To my knowledge, and I am sure Reace will correct if I am off base, there are only a handful of Escapes registered in the state of Montana. So just think: what are the chances of finishing a backpack-like trip in Glacier Nat'l Park, picking up our trailer (being temporarily stored outside the Park during our backpack), pulling into Campsite A-10 in the St Mary Campground inside the park, and seeing an Escape 17 parked in the NEXT campsite? Both Escapes being owned by Montana residents. I think I need to go out and buy some lottery tickets.

BTW, SittEscape, if you are reading this, where did you purchase that really neat wheel lift that you had on your passenger side wheel? I told my wife I WANT one!!

Re: Our New Escape 17b: SittEscape

Roger,

Hey, ya beat me to it! I was just about to write a similar comment on the Forum. Pretty cool to simply serendipitously rendezvous like that. We met a South Carolina tenting couple the next day at Many Glacier who apparently saw us both at St. Mary's and wondered if we were traveling together. Maybe we should indeed organize a Montana Escape Rally next season! All four [?] of us!

The leveler you referred to is a BAL Light Trailer Tire Leveler and we bought it from Amazon [free shipping]. We wouldn't be without it. It's a little heavy and certainly pricey but it well worth it, IMHO. You'll see many pros and cons, even on the Forum. Slip it under, take a few twists of the included wrench and - voila - we're level and frequently, even stable. Here's a pic and the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/BAL-R-V-Produc.../dp/B000BH5MAA

Yup, fellow Escapees, it's quite a wonderful community we have out there. It is going to be very hard for Karen and I to put SittEscape in storage this week. Ah, but such great memories out of just the first season.

Re: Our New Escape 17b: SittEscape

And, Roger, you didn't mention in your "what are the odds" comment that both Escapes were pulled by Honda Pilots. Better buy several lottery tickets!

I used to use one of these with my old trailer and they are indeed wonderful. They chock the wheel and level the trailer at the same time. Since they get pretty dirty through use, it is a good idea to put them in a pizza delivery bag for transport. Of course they don't work on my Escape 19 with the tandem axle so I gave mine away to a friend.
