Out for a few days….

Enjoying Silent Lake Provincial Park this week. Rainy day today so reading, lounging about in the 17B. The awning side curtains worked well. We have a Blackstone griddle, Weber bbq, ice maker under there.

Hi: Lanark Camper... Seems you have all the bases covered. Hope you remembered something to mix with the ice? Alf

Hi Escape Artist, if you are thinking of this park pick your campsite carefully. Quite hilly terrain, some campsites very difficult to back into. Otherwise excellent. Newer park all building are new, lake does not allow any motors. Nice hiking trails.

We were your way last summer staying at Port Burwell Provincial Park. Wanted to see the submarine but closed because of COVID . Maybe try again later this year….

Of course we have some good Canadian Rye to melt that ice !

How did you attached the tarp to the awning? Really like that idea.

The tarp has web loops, I just used a wire zip tie at each end of the awning. Same idea at the ground with a couple of pegs. The side curtains are fabric shower curtains with a leaf pattern, again used a few zip ties so they can slide back and forth for weather or privacy. We are quite sheltered here so no wind to worry about, may need something more robust if we were in a windy location.

I assume you turn off the power to awning to keep it from "wind activation" while deployed like this?

It’s a manual awning so not an issue. It is one of the reasons we went with a manual awning. And being able to tilt one corner down to drain water away from the area, and stop any water accumulation as well.

Hi: Lanark Camper... Driven through but never stayed a while.
If you came down to Niagara Wine Escape 2022 at The Riverside Campground & Motel as you drive at Grimsby on the QEW. you pass by Forty Creek Distillers. There's room for your rig along the service road or in the lot at the side of the building and whisky sampling awaits inside. Oh and there's lots of wineries for sampling too!!! How about joining us Sept 17-19th.? Alf

Yes the Wine Escape 22 is a definite possibility !
Our plans are still being solidified.
We know the Niagara Area well, have family that work in the wine industry there. That’s where I was introduced to the Forty Creek brand.
Also enjoyed a tour of Dillons Small Batch Distillery.
We have been lucky enough to to attend the I4C (https://www.coolchardonnay.org/) a few times amazing experience !
I’ll touch base later in the summer after we get back from Newfoundland !

I've done it with rolling the tarp up into the awning a foot or so. Anchor at the bottom.
