Re: "The Other TV"

At 19" it looks fairly big in there, even from the dinette end. Do you like the size, or would you go bigger/smaller if you bought one again?

Re: "The Other TV"

Hi: Jim...What the Prev. Owners had in there was a 13"... Too Small Goldielocks!!! 19" is becoming the industry standard for the smallest flat screens. There is very little difference between 15"& 19" as the screens are measured diagonally so the case doesn't widen by the same #'s. The TV just clears the light fixture under the cabinet by 3/4" so I think 19" is as big as it gets. When sitting in the dinette it looks small and from the bed it looks bigger and I like THAT aspect!!!
escape artist N.S. of Lake Erie p.s. the swivel arm was already mounted by Reace so I didn't want to make more holes...and he knew where he put the reinforcing in the wall also!!!

Very nice! It certainly looks larger than a 19". Is it mounted on the edge between the bed and the side counter wall?

Re: "The Other TV"

Hi: Sandra L... Thanks. Here's a pic of the mounting. I didn't do this...it was already there when we bought the trailer. All I had to do was screw the TV onto it!!!

Insignia makes a 15" LCD.
Don't buy it.

Thanks for the picture. That mount is the sturdiest that I've seen. Thanks for the "heads up" Glen.

Re: "The Other TV"

Alf, it the TV easily removed from the mount for transport? That does look like a solid mount.

I saw a cheap mount at Home Depot where the arms and everything came off a mounting plate. I really like that idea, as it looks cleaner then. I would want a good quality one when I do buy a TV though.

Re: "The Other TV"

Hi: Jim... The mount& TV is locked to the wall for travel with a sliding type, gate bolt. Once it is bolted it doesn't move. I only plan on removing it for winter storage...unless someone beats me to it

Hi: Sandra...This 19" Toshiba TV. is about 11lbs. The mount will hold up to 80lbs.& a 32" TV. A little over kill never hurts...but as I said it was already there!!!

Re: "The Other TV"

Alf, I just worry about the weight on rougher roads bouncing a bunch. Plus, where I will be mounting mine, I would like to keep it right out of the way when not in use.

Re: "The Other TV"

I got my mount from Lee Valley Tools for about $60. It is rated for 15 lbs. but, it's no lightweight. leevalley.com

I haven't installed it yet and I'm not sure I will. I don't have an antennae, Old Bag doesn't want a TV in the Toad and I still am reluctant to drill holes in the trailer. I might just store the 15" LCD TV under the bed, along with my long coax cable, and if we are staying at a site with cable, and if there is something I really need to watch, I can drag it out.

Re: "The Other TV"

I have seen several posts about TV mounts and TVs on the forum, and had a couple of comments. I can understand why, if you have a satellite receiver, you might be VERY serious about watching TV while you are "Escaping." However, coming from (and still doing so) a "backpacking in the wilderness" background, and having a Model 15B, it is all about doing double or triple use of any extra component you have. To me, a vastly more versatile system for TV/DVD watching is a laptop computer with a 17 inch screen and headphones. Not only can your spouse drool over Mark Harmon as she watches DVDs of NCIS, but you can also do digital mapping (printing out maps of the hikes you are wanting to take - National Geographic's TOPO! State Series is an excellent product), do route planning with something like Streets and Trips, manage the photos and videos you are taking, and handle email occasionally.

For those of you interested in broadcast TV, you can purchase USB plug in TV tuners. Depending on where you are parked, you might be able to get serious reception from a simple antenna.

Something to consider.

TV's for Escape trailers

Wondering about others who have put a small TV in their trailers.
When talking to Tammy, she advised going with a regular TV instead of a 12 Volt.
The 12v seems to be pretty pricey where as you can pick up a regular 19" Lcd/Led for $180-$250.

I have been looking around for a while at smaller TV's.
Costco.ca has a nice Sharp Aquos 19" lcd/led on sale for $219 delivered.
They also have a combo (tv & dvd) Sharp (not Aquos) for the same price.
Seems none of these smaller TV's have Blu-ray players - a bummer as most of my collection is blu-ray.
I suppose I could go with the Aquos and add a blu-ray player.
Might only be used when electrical hookup is there.

Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?
