Best Western - Orientation

Decided to get busy on reservations for pickup so we don't have to worry about where we're going to be staying and get some better pricing this far out.
Just booked the Best Western Rainbow next door to ETI for our Nov Orientation. Found it the lowest on Expedia.com for $87 and was $116 on Best Western's site. Also booked the Lynden KOA for a few nights after Sumas drop so we could check for any issues and take car trips up to Vancouver and Vancouver Isl. before wandering back to AZ.

We also stayed at that Best Western last fall and got a discount when we mentioned we were going to ETI. Probably will stay there this fall before orientation. Loren

I believe the ETI rate is $91/night. Going from memory on what I was charged.

Thank goodness for HHonors points. Every hotel we stayed in on the way to Canada, including the Hampton Inn Chilliwack (very nice hotel) was paid with points - no cost. Probably wouldn't have stayed there if I were paying. The Best Western is fine.

Our trip to Chilliwack from NM was uneventful, except for 3 separate days encountering no available motel rooms in Utah and in Washington, resulting in a longer drive into the night than planned. Moab was booked solid, there was a big convention in Clarkston, no vacancies in Omak, that is, until we got the last room in a really low-rent dump that reeked with tobacco smoke. Found a nice motel in Moscow. A month later found out someone there, no doubt an employee, stole our credit card number and charged $350 to it.

Smartest move was calling up the Chilliwack Travelodge Hotel, from Omak ($79.57) and reserving a room for our night before the 8 AM orientation.

All reasons to have and use an RV.

I also looked at Best Western for our trip in June, but it was still pretty expensive with the ETI discount. I settled on Comfort Inn for around $70, just a few km down from ETI. Plus we will have our dog, and it was one of the more accommodating dog-friendly places around town.

When we pick up our trailer we will be staying at Royalwood RV for 3 nights for a trial run, then North Vancouver at Capilano, before heading back across the border. Can't wait!

We had a similar situation a few years ago when we left Winnipeg and planned on a leisurely 2 day drive of over 900 miles. There wasn't a motel to be had anywhere along the I 29 corridor so we just kept going and got home around 2 in the morning. It was the Sturgis bike rally going on then. We like to freelance and end up where we end up for the day. I sure hope this isn't the case with a lot of campgrounds. Also we prefer traveling after labor day so that helps. Are heading to Chilliwack to get the trailer the second week of Sept. We will reserve a room the night before our orientation and a campground for the first night with the trailer. Something close around Bellingham. Any recommendations from those who have gone before us? Loren
