Dexter EZ Lube - seal part numbers

Guys, I could probably find this info if I searched the site for an hour or two, but does anyone know off hand what the part numbers are for the inner seals, on Dexter EZ lube axles on a 2015 Escape 19?

Here is what I have documented for my 2015 E19 - should be the same for rbryan4's 2015 E19. Or so one would think...

Seal kit: K71-303-00
Actual seal part nbr: 010-019-00

Inner bearing kit: K71-390-00
Timken set: 17
Actual part nbrs: L68111 / L 68149

Outer bearing kit: K71-306-00
Timken set: 4
Actual part nbrs: L44610 / L 44649

LH complete brake assy: K23-026-00
RH complete brake assy. K23-027-00

Shoe & lining kit (one drum): K71-047-00
Magnet kit (one drum): K71-104-00
Adjuster slot plug: 046-007-00

AFAIK, all the Dexter D35 #10 axles with 10" x 2.25" brakes use the same bearing and brake parts.

Seals

Post number 6 is correct in his parts numbers in all cases. I would have posted sooner but went down to my shop to get some new seals for a photo. I just bought these last week and they cost me $3.01 each at my local Dexter dealer. American plus tax. This is the seal for our 2013 21 and was also the seal for our 2010 19. New tires, new brakes, new seals, fresh grease in the bearings. Don’t stop too long for a cup of coffee, Iowa Dave and Rita’s 21 pulled by the Highballin’ Highlander will be along directly. To paraphrase Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen. In the blink of an eye a Ford 150 passed me by.
I said hold on Mama I got a license to fly.

Yep - the noble and much-missed Commander Cody. Rest in peace, George. First saw him in the early '70's at "Truck Stop Rock" at the San Mateo County fairgrounds, and lastly at the "Portland Riverside Blues Festival" in 2018, shook his hand and gave him a big hug - he was looking pretty haggard at that point. What a ride...

Huh? Wheel bearings? What wheel bearings?

I just adjusted the brakes for the first time and after reading all the forum posts and watching a few YouTube videos, I thought it would be smart to carry spare seals and a bearing set. I then spewed my coffee after seeing the seals for $9.68 EACH on Amazon. Really?

I like your $3.01 price a lot better. Can you relocate your Dexter dealer?

Anyone have a source for $3.00 Dexter seals that will ship them?

Mike

Oh... and BTW I was unpleasantly surprised by the need to manually adjust the brakes. Why don't they use the self-adjusting design I've enjoyed on my cars for 50 years?

Trailer bearings and seals for 3500 lb axles
Outer bearing L44649
Outer race L44610
The L44649/L44610 together are known as SET4 by Timken
Inner bearing L68149
Inner race L68111
The L68149/L68111 together are known as SET17 by Timken
Seal is a 10-19 ID 1.719 in, OD 2.565 in.
National seal # 473336 (1.719 ID, 2.565 OD, 0.5 wide w/double lip and spring)

You can buy the Timken bearing sets and the National seals from Summit Racing at better than local prices. All of the bearings and the seals and tube of grease will put you over the magic $99 to get free shipping.

Summit has the National Seals and they are about $6 each if I recall.

Those are both our current plates, the ones on the Highlander and one on the Escape. Before these they were just numbers and letters . When I’m doing something bad I use another vehicle. The vanity plate in Iowa like these have a one time fee of $25 and an annual fee of $5 at renewal time. There are about 80 different plate designs that you can get from cattle farmer to volunteer fireman to promoter of St Ambrose
University. Alas, no Parsons.

Hello Shiny
Our Local Dexter dealer is Midwest Wheel. They have numerous locations. I’ve never ordered from them online. When I worked for the city we kept all of our stuff rolling on components from them where possible. www.midwestwheel.com I think If you’re traveling through the Midwest and not in a hurry for your spare parts you could stop at a shop and get what you need.

I have no affiliation with Midwest Wheel just good men and women on the counter in Crdar Rapids who take care of me every time.

You can get self adjusting brakes for your 3500 lb Dexter Torflex axles. They cost more and for me, I like laying on my back on a cold concrete floor and taking my time. YRTMMV (Your Retirement Time Management May Vary).

Exactly...

Good news is I can still lay on my back and turn my head.

Getting back up is the hard part.

I will not spend money for adjustable brakes just because, but I can't imagine the manufacturing cost would be much different. Every penny counts when profits are the goal, and that's just business! Might be an interesting option for Escape to offer, though.
