2012 Escape Trailer Rally - Wine Tour
Hello Everyone,
Last year a few people, including me , took advantage of the local wineries and had a wonderful time. After our third winery I began to feel slightly bad for our driver, as she was unable to participate in the tasting that was being offered....while the rest of our entourage purchased bottles/boxes of wine. :
Hoping to find a solution that would allow us to go as a larger group and not worry about a designated driver. I have contacted Desert Wine Tours and asked how much to have a custom tour provided for us. The cost for a four hour private tour of several wineries is $75 per person based on a group size of 12 - 14 people.
I would like to find out if anyone is interested in participating in a tour like this?
Another idea would be to rent a large 15 passenger van, share the cost of the rental, gas etc. However, we would need someone with a license to drive.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Tammy

Re: 2012 Escape Trailer Rally - Wine Tour
I would definitely like to do a wine tour this year. I promise not to taste too much the night before like last year.
$75 a head seems a bit much. Maybe we could get a group rate for the day if we knew the numbers wanting to go.

I guess it depends what you get for the $75 a head.
Is it just transportation, or do you get lunch and a bottle of wine for the road?

Re: 2012 Escape Trailer Rally - Wine Tour
Hello Everyone,
I have just received an email from the Wine tour company and he is willing to drop his price to $50 for a three hour tour. This does not include the cost of the wine samples however, it does give us a private taste testing and tour.
I believe this does sound much better and think it should be something we consider. Ihave told him we will get back to him no later than April 15th....I will look to see everyone's responses.

Tammy,
I think we will pass. That's still $100/couple - more than we want to spend right now.

I am still in for anything you come up with. Well, almost anything.

I'm out. That's two dozen beer. And, another two dozen for Leslie.

Re: 2012 Escape Trailer Rally - Wine Tour
Hi Mike...
I noticed you offered to drive. Do you have a class 4 for a 15 passenger van? - If so I can look into pricing for renting a 15 passenger van.
I have also had two people now offer to be a designated driver.
Depending on how many people are willing to be a designated driver and how many people want to participate in a wine tour. We can get the participants to chip in for gas, to cover the fuel and a Tim Horton's card or beer fund (for after) to show appreciation.
If you are willing to be a designated driver maybe you could post on here how many people you have room for in your vehicle.
Sorry to confuse everyone but I am just exploring options.....If you haven't guessed yet I really, really, enjoyed my wine tour last year and cannot wait to go back to Silver Sage

Re: 2012 Escape Trailer Rally - Wine Tour
If we go the DD route Tammy, I could offer the use of my Pilot which seats 8.
I am good with renting a van too, that would be a very reasonable price to share.
Either way, the driver should be rewarded for their good efforts.
If this does not pan out, I am still good with the tour thing.
There, how is that for easy to please.
