Myrtle is a bit more low tech than a "weather radio" but dependable in this neck of the woods!
if the cow is laying under a tree, then its going to be sunny and hot
if the cow is standing under a tree, then there is going to be some light rain
if the cow is standing under a tree and the tail is wrapped around the tree, then there is going to be moderate winds and rain
if the cow is headed for the barn, then you best be doing the same
if the cow is trying to dig a really big hole fast, you best get below ground in the storm shelter and quick!
if the cow is "flying" past you, say a prayer for yourself and the cow.....

Hi Freespirit
Your post reminded me of the weather rock at Howard Cherry Scout Camp
Three arm diameter sticks about 6 feet long were lashed at the top to form a tripod
A rope hung down and a fancy lashing supported a pineapple sized smooth glacial granite rock
A sign next to this project read
If rock is swinging, it's windy
If rock is wet it's raining
If rock is white it's snowing
If rock is gone TORNADO take cover
Adults would stop and chuckle, kids never even saw it most of the time
Dave

like that
in a world full of tech..always finding oneself appreciating the simple things most.
Myrtle doesn't like cold..slept in the barn last night...

at least with that much snow you probably don't have fire ants..

great pics...nice to see a pink flamingo in the holiday spirit.
