Osoyoos Kelowna Vernon up to Salmon Arm route very scenic! Maybe a little slower but worth the drive. From there we took a short cut to highway 5, the trunk road west of Adams Lake. (Not recommended for everyone! but we loved it).
Highway 5: Beautiful! Stayed at North Thompson River Campground.
Jasper and Banff are beautiful, but so are the prairies!!!

The route past Adams lake to Highway 5 is a gorgeous route, especially compared to the route through Kamloops. I have a ton of friends that live on the Shuswap near there, and know that road well. I have fished Adams Lake quite a bit. That road condition s hit and miss, with most of it nicely paved, but the short gravel section can be badly beat up with all the logging trucks using it, but if freshly graded is just fine. But even at its worse, it is still very drivable, but you might have to go slower.
And yes, I love the mountains, but the prairies too have a beauty of their own. The big skies and ability to see more than a few miles is nice, and the rivers are just teeming with activity. Lots to see.

Sounds like a plan Jim, yes we brought a couple of Scotch to sample last year, we have added a few more to our "camping" collection.
We are currently down to 2 trailers, Buttercup and the Escape 19, we sold the Casita to Joan's sister so we will try to encourage her to come.

Are there no bourbon aficionados here? I lived in Kentucky for 12 years and from what I've been told, I had one heck of a great time! But in the spirit of full disclosure, I am Scots Irish.

I am in full favour of you bringing a selection of bourbons to the rally, Rich. I have had some really good ones, but am not really up to speed with them. I would love to learn more about them.
At the NOG earlier this month there were some folks that had 6-8 bottles out trying them. I brought along some really good Scotch, one a Highland, and one from Islay. Only a couple of them liked, or would even try, the peaty one from Islay, which was a Ledaig (pronounced le-chaig). Bunch of woosies.

I'm probably too late to get my hands on some Pappy VanWinkle, but I'll do my best. Four Roses is a nice backup tho. I'll get to work.

I assume you will get the 23 yeqar old Pappy Van Winkle. A measly $3,000 CAD.
The Four Roses seems to be more what I spend on whiskies.

That makes sense...
Quote:
Distilling probably was brought to present-day Kentucky in the late 18th century by Scots, Scots-Irish, and other settlers (including English, Irish, Welsh, German and French) who began to farm the area in earnest. The spirit they made evolved, and became known as bourbon in the early 19th century due to its historical association with the geographic area known as Old Bourbon...

( from Wikipedia, but this is what I would have guessed for the origin of Bourbon)

I actually had a bottle 21 year old Pappy once. Kept the blue velvet bag as proof. Didn't pay anywhere near $3k tho.

Paula and I were able to make reservations Saturday as I missed the note about reservations opening today. Oops! Signed up for the wine tour also.
As new Escape owners, we are looking forward to meeting folks and learning more about our trailer. This forum has been invaluable!
