Hey, if you're gonna comment on this thread then you gotta show up at the Rally.

Breakfast

Hi Eric
I sure could go for some hot French toast with some Wisconsin Skinny Sticks maple syrup if Jim would show up. I'd bring a griddle and stove big enough that he could make some Wheat Montana Buttermilk pancakes on the side. Oh and as a tribute to Jim, a couple of pieces of Canadian Bacon.

Kassler rippchen

Hi Glenn
How about kassler rippchen the German smoked pork chop.? We used to get those smoked loins right out of the smoker still hot. Sliced them up
And served on rye bread from the Bohemian bakery.
Brown mustard and fresh lettuce.

Having breakfast with and listening to stories from Iowa Dave alone make this rally worth the price of admission .His description of food is almost like poetry and made me long for the taste of genuine Iowa Canadian Bacon with homemade pancakes and real maple syrup & butter.
Others may attend and pretend ,but Dave is the main attraction IMHO

You are right, this flippin' house thing is taking up way too much time.

Gotta make sure that retirement fund is adequate.

Dave and I paid for our trip to the Escape Rally selling tickets to see your fancy new trailer interior, you could pay for your trip to this rally selling tickets to have breakfast with the Main Attraction!

The headers would leave the jowls hanging and my brother in law would trim the stick wound . Then the jowls would go to the pickle and get smoked for Joel bacon.. all that bacon "went east"
Dave

The jowls are the best meat on a pig. I remember Grandpa giving Granny heck for putting the good stuff into the head cheese. Man, I miss having me some good head cheese, the last stuff I had I bought in the deli at a grocery store, and it was lame.

Every fall my grandparents would butcher a couple of hogs.
My grandmother would make head cheese and pickled pork hocks.
Our local butcher shop makes about 1000 lbs of headcheese for sale at Christmas. They start taking orders after Thanksgiving and are usually sold out long before Christmas . It's good but nowhere near as good as my grandma's.
I still remember my Grandma heading to the hen house on Sunday with axe in hand . We sometimes got to chase the chickens around the yard as they flopped around with their head cut off.
Best fried chicken I ever had.

I had heard about how funny it was to watch a chicken run around with it's head chopped off, and I knew full will not to let them do that, but one time when I did the chopping I let one go. It was funny, but boy did I get in trouble. "Don't go getting that meat a bruised up!".

swap meet

I have some "stuff" that we are no longer using -- a patio rug, a dish drainer, etc. So I am going to host a swapping of the stuff from 1O:00 to 12:00 on Saturday at the Rendezvous. Same rules apply as at previous swappings: No money exchanges hands, and everything not taken or retrieved by 12:30 goes to the dumpster. Lindy and I will be in site 125. If something else interesting is going on, I may be watching i, and in that case, it will be a self-service swap meet...

We had the tarp at the Niagara Wine Escape. Well over 100 items were donated and found new homes. Very very little was left over. Thanks for doing this. Eric and I will host the torque your Nuts contest. Rita ( my blushing bride) and Teresa M. our daughter will set up the pavilion for the potluck. We are looking forward to our first U.S. Rally this year. Which after making 8,000 miles for Canadian rallies seems like a blip on the rally map radar. See you next week.

107

Greetings!

Site 107 opened up and so did some time for us. We plan to be there Wed. - Sat. in our new 2016 (2nd Gen) 19. It will be good to meet and learn from some of the "Old Timers" in the Escape world. We are experienced sailors but new to the trailer world.

See you there!

When is the potluck? I know it's just after cocktail hour but since that begins Thursday and ends Sunday I'm just looking for when to put the the Dutch oven on the fire.

The potluck will be on Saturday evening. The time, unless I am wildly mistaken, will be 5:30 PM. Sunset on that day will be 6:42 and end of twilight will be 7:10 PM. Campfire will begin at O Drinking 30 and go until we are escorted to the nearby Federal Penatentiary and are charged with excessive fun.and prevarication.
