2019 escape customer appreciation rally cigar swap

Are there any cigar aficionados out there who would like to get together for a Smoke In at the NK’MIP CAMPGROUND & RV PARK.

I try to smoke one cigar a day whether I need to or not...
Current favorites are: Macanudo Maduro Hyde Parks, Macanudo Inspirado White Toros, and Arturo Fuente Natural Double Chateaus.

I like to avoid political discussions during these times. Everything else is on the table.

"Everything else is on the table"... especially the ashtrays! I have fond memories from my youth of stealing a few puffs of my older brother's macanudo while his back was turned, heh. Nice mild cigar.

You might want to mention the location of this campground, for those who aren't familiar with the area.

Ah yes. The devil is in the details. This will be my first time there. If anyone has a clever idea of how we can hook up re: time & place I'm all ears.

When your all set up you could post your information on this thread. The campground has good cell coverage and data plans are available.

Perfect. It isn't unusual for me to drink a craft beer when I'm lighting up a Macanudo. So craft beer or any beer is the law. There's nothing better in the morning than fresh air, the smell of pine trees and cooking bacon accompanied by a Breakfast Stout.

I suggest you bring a flag of sorts to put in front of your camper or maybe 2 if you are on a pull through, that way when the flag is up, the smoke is flowing.....makes you easier to be found in the sea of Escapes.......

Kipling

All this cigar talk sent me looking for my Rudyard Kipling
book. Ahhh There it is “The Betrothed”.

Like many of us my age, The Jungle Book was required reading in high school. Also in English class in Mrs.Shackford’s room was some memorized poetry recitation and the following “what does it mean” by the student. Having enjoyed the Jungle Book I chose the poem “If”, by Kipling. I learned the poem and did an acceptable job on my interpretation. One of my friends recited “The Betrothed” also by Kipling. Which as you know compares a young woman to a cigar. I have not forgotten the look on our teachers face when my friend quoted towards the end of the poem, “A woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a smoke”.
And hence, 50 plus years later, the discussion of smoking cigars at a rally, and the dim view held by some people regarding cigar smoke and a place to generate that smoke, triggered this memory and reference to the poem. My reference to the book was not actual in the physical sense but did send me to the keyboard looking for and finding the poem. Sorry if I misled you, although I do think my daughter who lives about 35 miles from us, has my copy of the Jungle Book. She’s genetically a hoarder too. I know she has a Hemingway short story book of mine because I read “Fifty Grand” about a month ago when my wife and I were watching the kids while they had a “date night”.

Ah....Nice story. I can order more cigars (which I'm about ready to do) but I wouldn't if I could order another woman. I'm going to stick with the one I got.

Hoist up the "Cigar Flag" and I'll join the group! My beverage of choice with a cigar is usually a nice bourbon or single malt scotch, though.

Alternative drink selections are permitted. I may have a bottle of Small Roses Small Batch stashed away in the trailer.

I'm assuming you mean Four Roses? Try their Single Barrel Caskers Barrel Strength, if you can find it. Good stuff. I'd put it in my Top 3.

I may have to go to Maryland. Even though PA is basically a conservative bastion neither the Free Market advocates nor the 'Socialist Dems' want to give up that cash cow. All the liquor is sold through state liquor stores. The inventory can be dismal at times. And there is a non competitive price structure since the state has a monopoly. Lots of people slip off down to the Maryland state line and get their supply there. I think the first liquor store you come to in Maryland from Lancaster is about 3 feet past the state line. I may be exaggerating a bit but you get my drift.

We have the award winning Cedar Ridge Distillery and Winery about 30 miles from here. If it’s good whiskey, or whisky, locally produced, I like to support them. Plus there’s plenty for us with exports down due to tariffs. Nice brunch there too.
