Thanks Pat, Jim. Regardless, despite the excitement we're all good and though it's close, I am not quite old enough to not enjoy the ride, wherever it goes. One regret: never got a piece of Jon's blueberry pie.

Myron, if you can make here, to your old stomping grounds, we can caravan our way to Alf's Niagara Rally in September where (1) Jon will be making his blue berry pie and (2) I'll cook you some scrapple, spam, and pork roll in bacon grease to quench your hunger for exotic tastes, all you need is some libation and you will be set..... think about it.

I will mark that down, Jim. That's where I got put in custody by the Canadian border police the day I crossed over on the Rainbow Bridge without a passport and tried talking my way out of it by showing my NJ drivers license. Thought it was proof enough I weren't a smuggler. (Alf, I know you would understand. All I wanted was a quick picture of my trailer with the Horseshoe Falls behind it.)

A big shout out and thanks to Jake, love ya, who brought a perfect 3-pounder with him from NJ, and of course, to Dave, who mailed me one from Burlington County. Jersey guys!

Our trip out from New Mexico to Quartzsite was also less than perfect. High winds on I-40 really burned gas mileage. Saw an 18-wheeler lying on its side someplace between Winslow and Flagstaff. It was very windy but at least the AZ air was dry.

Dehitched at Deserts’ Edge RV on Tuesday. Had a long-planned consult with a back specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. Mayo would not allow trailer parking in back of the hospital for that couple hours, because of ongoing construction there. Then, somebody dropped the ball - their back guy never got the right MRI images from our orthopedist in ABQ. It ended without resolution for Nancy. Mayo said if we come back Friday they could take new pictures of Nancy’s back.

On to Quartzsite. My Dometic RM8551 never cooled on propane. Thank you Ron, most grateful - you spent a generous amount of your time working on it, cleaning out carbon in the lines. Yet, even that failed to get it fixed. The AZ air maybe too dry? That expected new Dometic fridge sounds interesting.

Other issue: never found short in the trailer that kept blowing 15 amp fuse for ceiling lights. We relied on two LED ribbon strips I had installed that worked because they were on a different circuit. And, flashlights, including a great LED work light - an ETI favor I got at last year’s Osoyoos Rally.

My deepest apologies go to the guy at the swap meet who tripped over Josie’s long leash because I wasn’t careful with that. Fun dinner with the guys at the Mountain and Quail. Under the tents in town Nancy found a cool dog jacket, for her, and me tools. At the hot dog thing I leaned too close with my brats and got campfire singed. Friday we got up early, broke the sound barrier getting to Mayo in time for a ten o’clock appointment.

We enjoyed the great camp music, and Jon’s and Ron’s presentations. Harbored wishes for the Baja but it was not to be. Winds at Dome Rock the previous week were long gone, air was pleasantly sunny, if dry.

Driving back home on Monday the big concern was winter weather. Thought taking the northern route up to Flagstaff and east on I-40 portended a higher probability for snow. Decided on the southern route, stay on I-10 toward Lordsburg, and then up on US26 into Hatch (home to Sparky’s and their fantastic chili cheeseburgers) and on to I-25 north to ABQ. Weather so unpredictable.

That decision reasonable, ah, given a perfect world. After Lordsburg, on US26, rain suddenly turned into ice, then snow. US26 became a white knuckle drive through a snowstorm. Not a place you’d want to get stuck. Passed snow-covered Hatch chili farms we could not see. Managed to arrive safely at Hatch, took a breather, then onto I-25, but snowstorm then jacked up into a real mess. Interstate covered, very tricky. At Truth or Consequences highway maintenance trucks blocked off, closed the interstate. We exited at 1:30 pm, spent the night in T or C at WalMart.

Finally home the next day, greeted by sunny skies and yes, 10 inches of snow in the yard. In the supermarket Nancy then developed a massive nose bleed. The EMT guys came and stopped the bleeding, but for two days it kept returning big time, about 6 times. Later, the doctor at the emergency clinic in ABQ then assured us it was due to her blood thinners, and the dry air.

Ah, but it was Quartzsite, right? 1500 towing miles, seven gas stops.
Myron: Thanks for the update. Sounds like quite the adventure you had. Glad you and some others enjoyed the pork roll. Anytime you want more just let me know. Jake is a great guy. We enjoyed our time together doing the mini-split on his 21. I hope everything works out ok with Nancy’s back. Keep on keepin’ on.

I'm at the laundry in Mulege so I have wi-fi. Some duties never change, even in Paradise.

Great to read the recent Q'site write-ups and thanks for the kind words.

I'll have the biggest Escape wiring horror story possible when I have more time. Also combined with solar controller failure, fridge failure and the destruction of two 6 volt batteries. Fortunately not mine but I spent approx. 12 hours over 3 days to find the cause.

Mex. 5, what a dream come true.

3 Escapes on the beach at Coyote.

Well, its good to know mine aren't the only horror stories. I am planning soon to nominate you for sainthood.

I have good news. Just walked into house after a major second effort searching the trailer for that pesky short-blowing fuses, and, I found it!! (One more last effort before throwing in the towel and seeking professional help.)

The short was in the cigarette lighter outlet under the dinette seat. Sneaky loose connection there caused by me and never noticed. Did you know that receptacle unscrews and falls out? It was partially unscrewed. All is good and screwed there, now. Everything working.....except the fridge, of course. Will now do more due diligence on that.

Myron so glad you found some of your issues . It is amazing right there causing all this trouble Very frustrating from the beginning no protection in build for electrical items . Under dinette, (don’t know if in your situation )I made a little protection box to cover that 12 volt outlet from behind . That was just one of the protections I had to add
to electrical in our trailer . Don’t understand seems like common sense to protect those items especially if we need storage in the same cabinets .
As mentioned for our situation the one wire undone in stove top caused issues with also our refrigerator . Just something to check now that you have your short found . Believe I am a layman when it comes to electrical but ?
Again glad you found one problem ! Pat

Once home from the rally I took ET-19 over to Tom's RV Service in ABQ. Just got the news that my fridge problem was not the fridge. It is the propane regulator. Coulda knocked me over with a feather! Back in 2017 I had replaced the factory install with a new one. Tom's guy told me the new one was defective, not regulating the propane feeds properly. They also found the short problem.

I just posted this on U-tube -- a short video summary of the Quartzsite Rally.

Once again, a great video to remember Q'site 2020. You definitely captured the essence of the meet.

I'm really surprised that the regulator was the problem. When I checked with my manometer it was set at the low end of the acceptable range. But it seemed to adjust fine when I increased the setting. So I'm a little confused as to how a regulator that was set to the correct pressure and performed fine with the stove being turned off and on was defective but if the new one is working when the old one didn't then we've learned something. So how does one determine a regulator is defective when the output pressure is OK?

You can film yourself and the trailer behind you with a selfie-stick out the window when driving, but only if you grip it very tightly. Lesson learned-- the faster you drive the more likely wind will rip it right out of your hands.

He got the fridge working just fine, but Tom's RV still has the trailer, so it is possible that initial first regulator diagnosis might change. It sure surprised me but I trust these guys.

Title of the piece is "Gimme back my ya ya." It's no copyright music by Dan Lebowitz. I found it on You tube.
