Is there an agenda for the event? are beers permitted at the camp? sorry for the dumb questions but it is my first time participating and my first year RVing. We are planning to arrive on Thursday and we will depart on on Sunday. Please tips on what to bring or not to bring. Thanks.

Beer

Beer is fine. No hard drugs, please. There is no major agenda, other than a usual pot luck on Saturday and a sundowner get-together on Friday evening. See ALL the posts by Paul Braun, rendezvous organizer extraordinaire on this event, in this thread. There may be more activities.

Long drive for you from NM. Yikes! It's a swell setting with kindred folks there to make it worth your travail.

There's a pot luck dinner and get together and cold beverages are always welcome. The exact day and time are TBD by the host.

Spirits

Hi Cruz,
The corps frowns on a bottle of whisky setting out on the table, discretion being the better part of valor and all. but beer seems to be fully permissible. You will have fun, you will be welcome. There are no outsiders. A New Mexico representative will be a new addition to the map. Hey Paul Braun, you do have a map of the USA somewhere with states colored in that have sent representatives right. I’ve been to Deming and took the diagonal highway over to the interstate. At night so couldn’t see much. First night pulling our 19 out of Tucson.

Hey young man what’s in the sock.
It’s nothing officer, I’m just keeping a baby bottle warm for my little girl.

No hard drugs oh darn! I planned to bring legal cannabis for everyone Cannabis isn't considered hard anyway is it? Oh but there's that big sign here at the border saying "No cannabis at the border" and unless things change we won't even be allowed to cross ourselves

Mary Jane is legal in Illinois now BUT we are talking Federal land here and Federal Law isn't so tolerant. Wishing you the best and hoping to see you in September.

Iowa Dave, my wife loves pot lucks, she is from Guatemala and loves to cook a special traditional Guatemalan dish. Looking forward for our first Escape rally.

This above is a good explanation of local rules, adult beverages and what activities have been conducted in the past. At this date, two months before the rally we are still sitting on the fence for some activities. The pavilion has been booked for Friday and Saturday. The traditional meet and greet on Friday will be a definite event. It will be a bring your own for beverages and snacks you will consume. We will not be doing any sharing. This is held on the banks of the Mississippi River in a roofed shelter with two sides enclosed. One end has a fireplace. It is close to being outdoors.

The Saturday Potluck is still on hold. There is not a reason to decide this early. How this event is held will wait at least another month.

What will certainly occur is the frequent informal interaction between campers. This seems to start early with a coffee march, followed by a hike to bathrooms, more coffee, interspersed with talking to as many campers as possible. It often goes long into the night at the pavilion or campfire ring.

Trailer tours have been held in the past. Since this is a private interaction between two parties, we do not wish to take a position on whether they are provided or not. It is a personal decision.

We would trust that a swap meet will take place Saturday morning.

You are driving so fast when you went past that sign you mis-read it.
It said No Canadian business either side of the border.

When we bring snacks we will bring stuff that is individually wrapped. Like those little bags of chips etc.
I’m sure the percentage Of vaccinated folks is high in this group. However cross contamination of any kind
Is not desirable . We will still have a lot of fun. I have the free tarp loaded in the trailer at all times, Semper Paratus .

We'll have a pot of coffee for sharing Friday & Saturday mornings from 7:30 - 9:00? at site #65. Bring your own mug. It will be good to see everyone.

Yes sir

If I'm up and about, I'll certainly stop by for a cup of joe and a chat. Cream & sugar, if you please, or I can pre-prep my mug with my condiments.

I'm looking way forward to this momentous Mississippi meeting.

Condiments will be there, cream, sugar or my favorite sweetener.

Latest Rally Update

Action Required

An email went out today with the latest details on the rally. If you did not get the email send me a private message with your email address. Chances are, that if you did not get the email, I do not know the full names of who will be attending. It would be good to have those for the name tags we provide.

Second, if you did not post a message with your site number I do not know if you are coming. If you plan to attend let me know what site # and names of who will be at the site.

So far, I know of 20 units and one day visitor. It looks to be a good showing. There are still sites available in the HPOI loop. I believe a two night minimum applies on the weekend.

Janet and I are looking forward to the new and returning campers. Stay safe.

The border closure again extended until Sept. 21 which is the day we planned to leave for the Rendezvous. We are still hoping maybe next month it will open and we may see everyone but unless things change in the next month it likely won't happen and we'll miss another year.

Tours

Bummer. I was looking forward to the tours. We are newbies and I wanted tips and ideas. However, I understand the need for the precautions. Thanks Fudge_Brownie for your hard work.

Hi Paul
Since we did not have a rally last year we hope this year will be better.

We’re glad you axed
Because our patience has been taxed
Our reservation for site 46 has been faxed
And we’re both fully vaxed
Rita’s 21 has been waxed
The Highlander GVW will be maxed
Hope Thompson is a go
It’s always a real good show.
We will have some spirits to bring on the glow
That’s about all I know.
Iowa Dave, Rita and Jake.
