E-Bike?

And WHAT, OH WHAT, is our intrepid rendezvous organizer, manager and administrator Paul doing in Poopy's at closing time? Curious minds are wondering.
How would he know this tidbit of Savana, IL lore?

No e-bike for me! What would I do with the pedals? But, that power trailer pedestal is still swimming around in my cranium.
Also: I'm planning on bicycling, one day, down to Fulton for a "beverage", or two? Is anyone interested in joining me? Fulton is about 8 miles south of Thompson. Maybe get ice cream on the way back?

Iowa Dave, Wondering the best route from Cedar Rapids to La Crosse, WI? We are heading to the La Crosse area next Friday and then working our way down the Mississippi to Thomspon. It doesn't look like their are any state highways on that route and just wondering about all the county roads. Thank You!

I’ll have to look. If Eric Thompson is reading this he’s driven the best route often, others too. Highway 61 is the Scenic Highway in Iowa. When I finish cooking a Couple burgers and have a few Tostitos I’ll look at the map for the roads I’m familiar with.

You got your Thomsons/Thompsons gollywompered
It's Eric Thompson and Thomson Illinois.
There's plenty of State Highways to take to LaCrosse, and very scenic, following the river, on either side of it, from Thomson, IL.

Now for a route to Thomson.
I forgot that I used to go to Onalaska for show choir competitions, for several years when m daughter was at Cedar Rapids Thomas Jefferson. Here’s what I would do if I was coming from LaCross to Thomson.
Cross the River at LaCross and take 44 to the Iowa border. There it turns into Iowa 76.
Take 76 to Marquette Iowa and then jog west a few miles and go south on 52 down through Dubuque and on down to Sabula Iowa. Cross the river at Sabula to Savanna and take 84 south out of Savanna to Thomson and boom you’re there. Those roads were all good and not
slaw the last Time I drove them.

Chances are, that if you did not get the email, I do not know the full names of who will be attending. It would be good to have those for the name tags we provide.
Second, if you did not post a message with your site number I do not know if you are coming. If you plan to attend let me know what site # and names of who will be at the site.
So far, I know of 20 units and one day visitor. It looks to be a good showing. There are still sites available in the HPOI loop. I believe a two night minimum applies on the weekend.
Janet and I are looking forward to the new and returning campers. Stay safe.

Hi Paul: New to the group and we're looking forward to meeting others. We've booked PMAS #8. See you next weekend!

Looking forward to meeting you. You’ll see our 21 and Highlander with my plate IA DAVE. Lots of scenery to look at in the upper Midwest. Makes it easy to work bucolic and pastoral into the conversation. You can see deer crossing signs anywhere but the Turtle crossing sign at
Thomson is less common. Saw three painted specimens last time I was there.

As a planning item that I have not seen listed I wanted to make campers aware that a grey water dump facility exists near the shower house in the loop we are camping in. This means that for those camping with the possibility of filling the grey water tank on your camper before you’re ready to leave, you can decant a couple 4 or 5 gallon buckets with lids of grey water, carry or haul it a few hundred feet and dump it. Fresh water hydrants are available in the campground or you can fill your tank when you pull in near the check in station. I will have a couple 5 gallon potable water jugs and a funnel along so if you forget yours or don’t have one, feel free to borrow mine. I’ll also have a couple grey water buckets too. Nothing like a longer shower than you usually take at the end of the day and not having to worry about too much grey water or not enough fresh water. I’m sure the water at Thomson is very good for any use. I prefer to drink bottled water myself. hopped up.

Well, after 5 years of wanting to attend this rally the stars have finally lined up in my favor. Sorry I am so late. Just booked my 2011 Casita SD (if that is okay?) on site #126. I am sure my jaw will be bleeding as it drags along the road viewing all the awesome Escapes. Looking forward to meeting you.

Our first aid kit is always on the “hump” behind the front seat ready for a repair. I always have a bottle of anesthetic “under the seat”. Looking forward to meeting you. Casitas are as welcome as rain and in the drought we’ve had, that’s pretty darn welcome.

Iowa Dave,
Thank you for the warm welcome and for the location of your anesthetic . I will bring some along with me to also share if anyone needs some. Decades ago I was warned not to mix anesthetics so I will need to behave, especially among strangers. But for some reason I think everyone will be friends quickly.
Dave, I read thru all of the posts several times and did not see your nor Fudge Brownie's site # unless I overlooked it, which in my old age happens quite frequently.
See you all soon.
jon and Brandy E&J (my covertly hidden anesthetic..will share).
PS: no rain in the forecast

Hey Jim
You could have said he’s the good looking one and made it easy on everyone.
At the Mississippi rally we are in the mid forties I’m not sure exactly which site.
I’m never lost though because someone is always telling me where to go.
There are a lot of good sites, friendly people and opportunities to learn stuff at this rally. Good weather has not always been the case but looks like we might get a bingo (five in a row) this year. Cool nights, stars and hoot owls are double points.
Who cooks for you, you cooks for you all?.
Iowa Dave
