2021 Mississippi River Rendezvous September 24-26
I think we can call this the seventh annual Mississippi River Rendezvous. Last year was officially cancelled but some owners missed the message or more likely chose to ignore it. There were about a dozen Escapes in attendance so official or not we will say there was a rally in 2020.
Thomson Causeway in Thomson, Illinois will be the location. For those who have not attended, the campground is an Army Corp of Engineers facility located on the main channel of the Mississippi River. To get a flavor you could search for Mississippi River Rendezvous on this forum and you will find stories and photos of previous events.
Formal events are on the weekend but you are welcome to arrive early and stay late. You will have to book for a two day minimum and the booking window opens six months prior to your arrival date.
Here are the loops in order of preference and the abbreviation. Both loops are within walking distance of each other and the center of evening activities, Stone Shelter.
Site Numbers--- Loop Abbreviation
29-78--- PMAN
1-28--- PMAS
The rally is open to all. It is promoted here on the Escape Forum, as a result the majority of those attending are Escape owners or parties looking to view a lot of models with one visit and converse with owners.
If you have questions this is the location to ask them. Many of those who have attended in the past are regular visitors on this forum.

Yes Paul I have a question. Do you think we might be able to attend or will the border still be closed? Your guess is as good as mine. I plan to make zero campground reservations this year having had to cancel about eight last year.

On my Calendar
I've wanted to travel up there and am still on the "Mississippi River Parkway Commission" mailing list and need to locate the map they sent me years ago.
Thanks

I had to look up the Mississippi River Parkway Commission. It seems like a worthwhile organization, Since Georgia does not border the Mississippi River but resides on the famous Chattahoochee you must be a transplant.
Plenty of tug boats and barges in the Thomson area. The Corp of Engineers has a visitors center overlooking the locks in Rock Island. It is worth a couple of hours to see the barges up close and personal.

Move quick, but be patient.
Iowa Dave stays up late the night before to reserve at 12:00:01 AM the sweet spot site.
And then it's only a 6 month wait until the rendezvous.

I don't expect to get a sweet spot as will not be booking at all unless we know we can finally cross the border and at this point still doubt that will happen. Would love to go but won't get our hopes up.

No afraid not Glenn, but Beth did get down to frigid Kansas end of Jan to March 3, for the arrival of our last grandchild, then had some fun getting home. I had to go to my son's place since she was not allowed to stay run same house as me even though I'd set up the basement to stay there. She is still waiting for a call to do her last covid self test which was supposed to be on day 10 of quarantine. Talked too a friend who works at the border here and it's unbelievable what's going on, our tax dollars at work!

our tax dollars at work!
While employed with Uncle Sam for close to 40 years I was often reminded that "I'm paying your salary" comment from the public..........so we, the federal employee would respond with "How about that raise"........

Mississauga
Maybe maestro Paul can organize a Mississauga, Ontario, Canada alternate venue rendezvous. Mississippi... Mississauga....The 2 names kinda sound the same.
See you again, somewhere, some day.

Staying up late
Iowa Dave does not stay up late for a reservation. He makes a phone call to the head of the park guys mafia and it’s all taken care of. I don’t have a preference in this new loop as I’ve not camped there. It’s all good. I don’t know much about the variations and other Mississippi variants but I do know we have Massasaugas rattlesnakes in SW Iowa. And that bites.

Dave, will the Niagara rally prevent you (and us) from attending this rally?

That’s a real nice site, I’m sure you will like it. Sunrise and sunset both if I remember correctly. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Just booked site 63 until Monday. Got my second dose of vaccine scheduled for early April. Thought about the Niagara rally but I don't expect the border to open until early next year. will be doing Algonac the beginning of the month.

We'll be there
Hello we are Perry and Karen Randle. We will be new Escapers (and new RVers), picking up at Sumas in July. We have planned our first trip for the month or so after that in the northwest. We should be home in late August and ready for another trip around Rendezvous time. We have reserved site 73 for the 22nd through the 27th. Looking forward to meeting some of the folks who have been so helpful on the forum. We are coming from east Tennessee and will have approx. a 12 hour trip. we will probably split it up into 2 days. See you there!
