As best I can remember, there is a "boat ramp" in-between sites 51 and 54 which is just beyond where the backwater (lily pad area) starts to clear.....

Yup! I hope to use that ramp. OK ramp for paddle and small craft.

What can we expect the weather to be like that weekend, there? What’s the historical average?

Are we talking shorts, or a down comforter (or both). We are trying to figure out what to pack to go cross country in September and back in October.

We will be cheering during the parade also.

Weather, ugg. The rally, over 8 years has been flooded twice, so rain, even far upstream, can have an affect. Never a danger but certainly an annoyance.

Wind off the Mississippi can be an nuisance, that was the case last year.

Snow, we have never had a problem with that . . . Yet

The sun and warm days are always around. The problem is predicting when.

Shorts and flip flops are best left at home. An umbrella always helps. Wellingtons are probably not necessary. A hoodie is probably the best thing to bring, followed by a vest for you colder folks.

A good attitude is on the top of my list.

Fudge Brownie speaks the truth

Predictions are hard to make...........especially about the future. Yogi Berra.

Could be 80's, sunny and humid, could be 50's, cold and wet. Could be 60'sF, cloudless and sweet Fall conditions. I dunno which.

Be prepared for it all, is my advice..

Thanks fudge brownie and Habberdabber.

I’ll cut back on the shorts and increase the long wear, bringing some of both.

In the Bay Area of SF today, it was 110. Hard to imagine wearing anything more than the minimum. We are about 20 degrees above average.

Cover the bases

On early August trips to Lake Superior, I'd take plenty of t shirts, shorts, and gloves, a winter hat and long johns. Needed and used it all, one time or another
Ya never know..

We’re heading to peninsula state park after the rendezvous, I think at your suggestion.

I’ll pack a beanie/gloves/light down jacket, and some long johns.

Edit: and an umbrella! We forgot that when we went to Sumas in April.

.We did not canoe last year, as the lily pads were too prolific. We did paddle around the year before. Accessed the water across from the playground.

Throw in a can of mosquito/bug spray in your kit. The buggers may still be around.

I'm headed from Cali to Michigan later this month, and one possible route I'm eyeing takes me right through this area, so I may join! If there's anyone here with a campsite in the Potters North (PMAN) loop who needs to cancel, please let me know first and I'll snag your spot. Looks like there are plenty of spots available in the other loops, so I could always get one of those as it gets closer...

Thanks for the offer in the post in the other thread. Don't need anything from CA thanks. In any case we shall be visiting there ourselves in the not too distant future when our son-in-law retires from the army (now at Fort Leavenworth) and they move to his home in Pacific Grove.

Yes the rendezvous is certainly worth driving from Canada for we've been there nearly every year when we could (Covid, health issue barring going). It's Beth's favourite rally. We're not far into Canada anyway our house being about half a mile from the NW corner of MN.

Great to hear you are joining us Joe. Diane and I are in site 54 just up the road from you past the boat ramp. Looking forward to seeing your setup and showing you the beginnings of my solar install. I have the battery and inverter, etc. installed but due to recent surgery the solar panels need to wait. As long as my recovery continues well we will be there. Fingers crossed.

Great, and I look forward to seeing your battery and inverter install...I've been meaning to improve mine a bit, as far as locations and wiring. And I just recently finished my u-shape dinette conversion so my options for that stuff have expanded. Safe travels, see you soon!

Cool! California represent!

There will be more than one with California plates, and I’d be interested in seeing your truck, the bigger baby duramax.

Uh-oh, the Californians are coming!

Which route are you taking? I'm thinking of going up to the Tetons, then taking the 20 across Nebraska and Iowa...

While not incredibly nteresying, 20 is in better shape with less construction in iowa. I’ve driven 20 across Nebraska and it was in nice shape. If you have a particular interest, let me know and I’ll try to point you in the right direction. In iowa If you take 20 to I380 then south to US30 you’ll make the best time. Get groceries in Clinton before you cross the river to Fulton Illinois.

I was planning on taking 80 across, it’s about 300miles/day for 7 days.

I’m open to better routes. I resided in Nebraska, just outside of Hastings, for a year. Many years ago….

I’m open to suggestions, if you map from Campbell, Ca to Thomson causeway it shows 80 all the way.
