Heading out today for the big journey to the Rally.
Google says it’s just over 2 hours.
With a big trip like this we are going to have to stop for a lunch break.

Hi Alan,
Talk about two ships passing in the night. We stopped at Mule Deer last night also. Don't know why we didn't see you, walked the dog twice around the campground. We reserved a spot in Coldstream last week, then found out that it was closed due to snow and then we were switched to Hampton and the next day to Mule Deer Third time lucky I guess.
All setup in #200, time to put my shorts on, what a great change in climate.

Good morning fellow campers!
If anyone knows of or creates a "for free" space / tarp would you please post it here. A previous post made it sound like there would be a number of us interested in participating...
Many thanks,
Doug

Lot's of interesting folk and nice weather, what more could we ask for.

Loved the choice of both the type of pancake and the toppings.
Thanks for helping out.

Great pot luck dinner last night, always amazes me what a great selection of food that you end up with.
In addition there were huge trays of catered pulled pork left over from the night before. The word was "bring containers and help yourself." Guess I know what I'll be eating for the rest of the trip.
Afterwards some showed up at Jim B's trailer, with a bottle of fine Scotch and then another and another and it turned into a Scotch tasting event.
Don't know what they see in that foul tasting stuff.
Huge thank you to ETI. Well done.

Our first rally - great to meet so many Escape folks. Thanks to all the folks who let us view their trailers; we really enjoyed viewing all your cool mods.
Heading out today to check out the new sites at Sky View in Manning Park on our way home.
Thanks ETI!

It was our first rally as well. We have a 19 and were in the Escape showroom picking out options for our 21C when we were told about the rally and were fortunate to get a campsite.
We also want to thank everyone for being so helpful and generous in showing us the modifications made to their trailers. I can see we will be spending a lot of time adding many of the great things we saw others do!
For those who have not taken the trip, we would recommend you consider it in the future. It is in a beautiful location, the drive to the campground is also stunning (especially if you are coming from the west).
Also a big shout out to the Escape staff who did such a great job coordinating EVERYTHING! They are awesome people and Escape is lucky to have them.
Finally a note to US residents. It was the first time we have taken our trailer out of the US since getting it. I'm sure most of you know this, but just in case make sure you inventory your refrigerator prior to the border crossing. We were asked to pull over for a trailer inspection and were asked a bunch of questions about the contents of our refrigerator (e.g. vegetables, lettuce, fruit, etc.). Normally we know this stuff, but did not in this case. If you give the wrong answer it is a $300 fine. I don't mind tossing stuff they say is not okay to bring across the border, but a fine when I'm answering truthfully as best as I know seems excessive. We were not fined, but I did forget about an avocado in the fridge. Turns out it had a USA sticker left on it, so it was okay. I'll be better prepared in the future for sure!

When the US border guard took my three nice potatoes away from me because they were in a paper bag and not a plastic bag with the potato farmers mother’s maiden name stamped on each spud, I think I heard him mumble something like “Hey Kids we’re having French fries for dinner”, not for sure though.
On the 19 we used to secure the refrigerator door with a heavy boot string and two brushed nickel cleats, one on each side of the door. The Canadian border Guard wanted to see inside of the trailer and asked to see the inside of the refrigerator. Rita unwound the string from the cleat.
The guard said “I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
I said “The Egyptians had them on ships about 5,000 years ago.” Didn’t seem like he was all that interested in history.
YMMV

The first time I went across the border I was asked, where did you come from?
Thinking this must be a trick question or the hiring standard is not that high…I answered truthfully and pointed…back there.
Seemed kind of obvious to me looking at the line of vehicles behind me.

BC Glass Egg Rally June 16 - 19
Just a reminder that the next Fibreglass Rally in BC mainland is coming up soon on June 16 - 19 just outside of Hope. It is called the BC Glass Eggs Fiberglass Trailer Meet-ups and you can see more at the Facebook link.
Escape Industries in one of their videos said they would be there this year in some form as well.
It is my understanding that every spot has 15 amp power and water.
The pictures on the Facebook page are of another venue so I have added two of what to expect. Lush grass and mature trees. Of course a picture with an Escape always looks best.
Hope to see you there.

Joking aside, I had a great time meeting up with old friends and making a few new ones. So much fun to be had there. [emoji16]

We concur with all the above comments on the Osoyoos Reconnect rally! We also had a splendid time. Being our first Escape rally, we weren't sure what to expect, but we thought ETI did a fabulous job organizing it all. All the dinners and breakfasts where delish - YUM!!! And all those who presented their amazing mods or expert travel advice where much appreciated. Being that we are on our way to Alaska now, all the BC, Yukon, and Alaska tips were especially appreciated.
We did put out a ballon, not that we had anything much to show...but enjoyed having a few stop by for a humble 'show n tell'. However, the next day, was perplexing when no one came...then realized our ballon was not secured very well and flew away. (oops)! Sorry Osoyoos for that random ballon flying around!
So we did our best to walk around that HUGE campground everyday to meet as many beautiful 'Escapeers' as we could. So wonderful to meet new friends and finally put faces to so many of you on this wonderful forum. Many thanks to those who offered to show their trailers with so many incredible mods....or even just to talk and get acquainted in person.
We wish everyone safe travels this summer and hope our paths cross again down the road! Cheers, -Bea
