Matagorda Madness Rally 2013

Well it looks like Matagorda Madness is hanging on to it's reputation of warm & sunny one day and cold, wet, and windy the next. I remember one year when we got snow on the coast during the rally. Weather for Friday calls for dropping temperatures, 20 mph out of the north gusting to 30, and rain. Hang on to your cowboy hats guys and hunker down. There should be at least five Texas Escapes mixed in the sea of fiberglass. Thanks Pam & Jackie for hosting this rally. Please post some pictures for the rest of us to enjoy. Safe travel!

I got here about an hour ago. The winds have picked up considerably and the temp is starting to go south quickly just in that short of time. Gonna be an interesting weekend on the coast!

Taryn,
I am in site 24. Bundle up should be a bit chilly.

Who's got a small report and pictures of Escapes on the Texas coast?

Well Matagorda Madness was a "madness" rally this year! The cold front the gripped the nation made it all the way to the TX coast and while the temperature was definitely cold, the wind and humidity made it quite nasty. Many folks arrived earlier in the week and were greeted with warm, sunny temps but that changed by Thursday. So while it was good to visit with everyone the weather made it hard to really enjoy being outside. One couple drives a diesel pusher and we used that as a perfect wind block so we could visit. We ended up with four Escapes there and new (soon to be) Escape owners Taryn and her husband drove over from the Houston area to see what they ordered. Sorry but it was too cold and windy to take any photos but maybe Jackie will post a few. Oh well, thats winter on the TX coast, one day sunny and warm, next day cold, windy and wet!

Thanks Steve for the report,
I remained with you and other Texas Escapes in spirit throughout the weekend. I had something keeping me from planning to attend Matagorda this year. Suddenly that vaporize but by then, the rally was full. It's a great location but as you know, it can be down right uncomfortable when a cold front hits the Texas coast.
