Show Me Totality Reality!

Better late than never. I tried posting this numerous times from camp but had a poor signal, especially with extra people in the county!

We had a mini Escape Rally for the eclipse at my place in Shannon County, MO! Eric and Mary of WI and Iowa Dave and Rita plus more of my friends joined me for camping or just for the event. Lily and Luna hosted Jake and Keeley and all dogs were on great behavior and cuteness.

We had excellent viewing, great food and beer, wonderful company, and a lot of fun! I even made dark chocolate "eclipse" truffles, plus some that represented your fried eyeballs if you did not properly wear your eclipse glasses!

You can see my new house being built in the next field over!

More photos including the "arts and crafts" table where everyone made filters for binoculars or glasses.

Hi, Nindy. We camped at Brookville Lake in Indiana, a little more than an hour from our home, to both de-winterize and to be in the path of totality. It was an amazing sight! We’ll never forget it.

These photos were taken in the midst of the total eclipse (3:07ish in the afternoon) -

Wonderful! Glad you were able to see it! Funny thing, I was in totality in 2017 at my house near Kansas City. I already had purchased this land and found out I would be in the path again!

Lame iPhone shot

We were just north of Indianapolis IN for the eclipse. Reality was better than the photo image, as Bailey's Beads were visible.

I'm still waiting for the "changed my life" effect from seeing the eclipse. It must be a delayed reaction. It was an interesting experience.

Looks like a good campout. Nice location, too.

Best campground host ever..Camped with Electricity, a steady stream of conversation, WiFi service so we could watch the NCAA women’s championship, good campfire, abundant wildlife, dark skies at night, home made candy and cookies, and yes, free cold beer. Thanks a million stars, Linda.

With all the telescopic equipment there we got to see a lot of celestial objects and have experts to identify them. There was one large terrestrial object we worked on trying to identify. Rita claimed no knowledge.

Linda was an amazing host and her land is beautiful. Thank you so very much!

Lucky you did not have a wide angle lens and catch a full moon. Birdwatchers are familiar with the Bohemian Waxwing. I think the large animal in the 3X clothing is a resting checkered Bohemian Susquatch attempting to lure a Turkey Vulture down with his body odor. Just a guess.

Looks like it must have been fun! We haven’t had our trailer out since January. We’re heading to Oregon for the campout in a few days though.

Camping out

As Willie would say,
“Going places where we’ve never been, and I can’t wait to get in the road again”. We like a combination of trying out new parks or sites or loops, and returning to old favorites. On our way back from SE Missouri we stayed at Mark Twain Lake west of Hannibal. Corps of Engineers so only $10 for the night, Electric, nice restrooms and showers,( individual), view of the lake, and level sites. Crappie fishing next week with friends who have a motorhome. SE Iowa. Sometimes we actually catch some.

We were up in Quebec, about 90 mins east of Montreal in a lovely little town called Magog. Ended up with a great lakeside view. We made a 'last week' change from South Texas which had dire weather forecasts. A few photos!

Good gracious, those are some spectacular photos, BritCanuck! That lake shot with the total eclipse looks like a postcard. Nice work!
