Talent Show at Escape Rally Sat May 26th, 2018

Calling all talent! After the potluck dinner on Saturday, May 26th, we will be having a talent show for a bit of fun self-generated entertainment. Write a poem, tell a story or sing a song about one of your many Escape trailer adventures. Please keep it to about 5 minutes, so others have the opportunity to participate.

Please let me know if you want to be put on the list. I think we could do about 15 performances. First come, first serve

If anyone has a sound system they could bring, let me know.

FYI This is an official Escape Trailer Industries sanctioned event. Tammy gave me the go ahead. Let's have some fun!

Is whiskey drinking a talent? That is what I have always done after the potluck on Saturday.

Hi Jim
I'm reminded of the Porters speech in Macbeth "It increases the desire but takes away from the performance." What? You're sure he wasn't talking about playing the guitar but something else? Hmmmm.

It could be the guitar, as there is a point where the drink no longer loosens the player to perform easier, and starts to reduce the ability to play well. At my skill level it makes little difference.

Yep! I used to shoot competitive darts. We used to call it “aiming fluid”. Only worked for the first drink or two. After that not so much.

Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker. Will there be a poetry reading? Sorry we can’t make it

I had an uncle who did cowboy poetry, maybe I have some of that in me. I know with whiskey my singing gets better, maybe poetry too. Sorry you guys can't make it....

Jim, you need to put Garner SP on your list of "places I may eventually visit". It's the most popular SP in Texas, mostly for floating on the Frio river, or hiking Old Baldy, or dancing at the Pavilion. But, they also have cowboy poetry recited by campfire - by real cowboys.

Though born in rural Alberta farming and ranching, as an adult my uncle lived in the Phoenix area and traveled all about the southern US working and reciting poetry. Who knows, maybe he went there. I will have to keep it on my list of places to visit.

Years ago I went to Tuscon during the lapidary shows and went out to Elko for the National Cowboy poetry gathering one night. That was very interesting. One day I hope to do it again.
They have a website set up, I visit it every year and listen to some of the stuff they do. I'll have to keep Garner on my list of places to go too.
