Travel & boondocking advice Dome rock rally

Plan to leave boise around Jan 27 doing a slow meander down 93. I have several ??
Plan to overnite at Dave deacon then somewhere in south basin range natl monument maybe off Logan canyon. Need help on camping south of Vegas off 95. Recommendations? Then will take exit off I 10 to dome rock road. Looks like a large area so can someone provide approximate area where rally will be held? Never been so probably naive ? “Go where all the eggs are” huh. Advice would be so appreciated. TIA

I needed to remove the direction letters to make it work in google maps.
33.64203, -114.31374

Greg posted the coordinates too, half a mile away. Who to believe?
33.643617,-114.304752

Just get close and look for all the small white trailers, you can't miss it driving down Dome Rock Road West.

If you type or say "Dome Rock BLM" into Google Map, it takes you right there.

1/2 mi either way in the AZ Desert is pretty durn spot on. Ain’t no trees and about 30 mi visibility. Just sit high in ur saddle and you’ll spot the wagons in a circle over yonder.

you got three miles or so on dome rock rd after the camp host (until the cattle guard), I think you'd have to try very hard to miss all the fiberglass trailers? Last time we were there (Christmas day 2018) the off duty camp host thought we were there to attend the fiberglass rally (that's what he called it I guess?), heh.

...
You can remove the letters, or just remove the negative sign on the longitude, because positive latitude means north and negative longitude means west... you just can't have both the negative and the "W" at the same time.

"33.64203N, -114.31374W" is not valid;
"33.64203, -114.31374" and
"33.64203N, 114.31374W" are both valid and mean the same thing

This isn't specific to Google Maps.

A little off your route, but there's a nice campground at Sacramento Pass off US50 (near Great Basin NP). We really like the upper loop of sites. No hookups but nice sites.

Also consider Cathedral Gorge SP off US93 just north of Panaca. Electric at the sites.

We try to avoid Vegas. Have found it easy to cut over 168 and get to Valley of Fire. If they are full it looks like boondocking on a bluff just south of Overton. Then through the National Rec Area (167) coming out at Boulder City. Then either over to US95 or on down US93.

Haven't found any great spots south on US95, but haven't really looked.

Have a great trip.

There are a couple of boon docking dispersed areas north & more south of Lake Havasu City on AZ 95. All are on the east side of the road, and not marked, but obvious by the RVs there.

OK, I'm feeling a bit guilty that the coordinates I gave on the rally thread were somewhat generic. So, being a nice day, I drove out to Dome Rock with my GPS. While others have mentioned that the rally covers a good 1/2 mile along the road, the location I'm listing here is where I was set up last year, next to Greg. This year could be a bit different since there are often a bunch of "Sun Blockers" parked in the area. I go out a week before the rally & try to scare them away, but some always stay.

Anyhow, the host site where you fill out the paperwork to officially get your 14 day permit (assuming the government shutdown is over is N 33.64957, W 114.27163. If the host is there and on duty, he will have an American flag flying on a pole next to his trailer.

My location, if I can get the same area I had last year is N 33.64356, W114.30594. Greg (the rally host & the registration table) usually sets up in that general area.

Jon & Hugh, Thanks much! Hugh, we like the same places, been to all but may have to rethink Dave deacon & go once again to cathedral gorge because of elevation in Kirch wma. Wanted to soak in those hot springs & explore basin range but we shall see. Jon, me thinks v of f a good option & driving that route along mead. May stay at poverty flats or the other end. Like your suggestions for lake havasu area. I’ve always wanted to meet you Jon as I admire your helpful posts & want to know how to pronounce your last name correctly!
Best,
Julie
