Boy, I go to sleep early one night and all #### breaks out. Unfortunate recall but let's try to remember to be civil to one another, we are all in the same boat.

There has been a lot of talk lately about "lack of quality" in the Escape product. As a person who recently retired from the manufacturing world, the latest "recall" concerning the welds on the 3" Escapes, sounds more like Escape adding a new Quality Control Employee to their staff. If that is the case, this is a good example of someone trying to prove their value to their employer. If that is the case, it just shows that Tammy & Reace are "upping their game" and providing better reasons to buy an Escape. I feel reassured when they are not only concerned about improving new product, but also making sure that us current owners continue to be satisfied customers.

I agree, I would rather be told by the manufacturer that a problem may exist versus finding out first hand and making a complaint back to the manufacturer.

Would be useful to know how many trailers were constructed with the mitered weld and how many of those have incurred problems with that weld, and possibly conditions under which those trailers were used (dry or wet climate). That would allow each of us to inspect our own trailers mitered joint and do our own risk assessment to determine the urgency of having this repair done. i.e. Does it need to be done immediately, can it wait a few months, a year, a few years, etc. In my case, I would most likely put it off till next summer and plan to stop off in Chilliwack for the repairs on the way to/from a summer vacation destination.

My thoughts also. However, doing so (putting something in writing saying it is ok to delay a remedy to a deficiency) could expose a manufacturer to lawsuits. For example, I have some kind of accident/incident and find a lawyer willing to blame the manufacturer for the event because I followed the company's advise and waited on doing the fix.

As Reace mentioned Dave, there were 700 affected, and all trailers in the range he mentioned with 3" frames were manufactured this way.

So would be good to know out of a total of 700 frames, how many of those have had issues with the welded frame miter joint?

I wonder how the underframe spray on insulation will be affected by this? Will have to take a look at my frame.

For me the timing on this recall really sucks, since I had just made a long trip back to the Escape factory a month ago for other repairs. However, it is what it is, and I understand that issues arise (I have had a ton of recall notices on my Chevy cars recently LOL). Guess this will help me to plan at least one stop on next years summer vacation.

Hi: jrn56... Reace has estimated about 1/2 hour to install the "Fish plates". A good welder probably less time. Prep grind and a fiberglass shield are necessary... Then a paint to finish. Alf

I believe all the frames listed are susceptible to this.

The '76 Trillium I am rebuilding was affected by a very similar recall, and it had not been done by a the two previous owners, probably totally unaware of it. The frame showed absolutely no sign of fatigue in any way. Still, I put the recommended mending plates on, cheap assurance.

Especially seeing Escape's intentions were never to try to pull one over on anyone.
