That is awesome, I am going to work out the calculations for our body sizes.

We decided to have the dinette area raised 4 inches for just the reason Harris mentioned .. being able to see the ground area around the trailer. It also gives us a bit more storage area under the benches.

Does ETI get longer dinette table legs for those situations and you may not have enough room for a bunk option if you were considering such.

Hi Jim,
The dinette table legs are the same. We had Reace fabricate a 4 inch platform for the dinette floor area and raise the bench height 4 inches. This leaves the table-bench heights the same and increases the under-bench storage area by 4 inches. The seat to window height is reduced 4 inches for better visibility out. We could not envision ever wanting the bunk option installed.

Hi Greg--

We need to know the measurement from the un-raised floor to the bottom of the front window. Also how high is the bench seat. It would be a great help to know these distances.

Thanks

Harris

Glad for raised dinette

Have now made two outings with "Eh' gloo". We are very happy that we raised the dinette floor & benches by 4 inches! Seeing out is very comfortable and the added storage space under the benches is great.

Could some nice person with a 21 tell me what the distance from the cushions to the bottom of the window is on a 21? Lindy and I are both vertically challenged -- she is 5'0" and I am 5'7". so raising the floor might be just the ticket for us. Thanks.

Leon, from the top of the cushion to the bottom of the window (at the glass, not the frame) is 19" in our Escape 21.

My wife is 5 feet tall so this has been a very interesting thread. She has never seen an Escape and I only got a brief look at an Escape 19. However, we are leaning toward the Escape 19 because of the queen bed and you donot open the door and walk into the bed.

For us the 4 inch platform is probably necessary.

Does anyone know how much weight the platform adds to the trailer?

Also, how much head room is left after giving up 4 inches for the platform?

I'm 6-1 and don't bonk my head in Escapes.

Hello everyone. I have been studying this forum for almost a year now, but have never made a post, so this is my first. I discovered the Escape by accident when I caught a comment about Reace and Tammy and their fantastic product. The customization is exactly what I wanted and the light weight was perfect for my Tacoma. This thread finally hit a nerve with me since my wife and I are diminutive people. She is 5'3" and I am 5'5". I used to be 6'5", but with every kid (3 boys, then finally a girl), every mortgage, every college tuition bill, car payment, car insurance etc., the weight of the world this reduced me to 5'5". Actually, I've been this height all along. I guess I just dreamt I was 6'5". Anyway, I have struggled with what I wanted in a trailer. Every picture I have seen of the front dinette in the 19, seemed to have bench seats that were too low for the window. Even some pics of the 21 seemed that way to me. We want a queen sized bed, but that seems to eliminate the 21. I am not sure I want to give up the the storage in my Tacoma bed and the storage unit option available on the 19 and 21 units for the 5.0TA. I wish ETI would make the 21 just 6" wider and put that space into a Queen bed. To me, that would be the perfect trailer. Light weight, queen bed, rear dinette...perfect!
I am getting ready to send in my deposit once I reconcile my dilemma and hopefully schedule my pick up date to coincide with next years rally. I intend to be the first Escape owner in Louisiana with a Who Dat? Shack, the famous battle cry of the New Orleans Saints. "Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints". Sorry thus post is so long, but I finally worked up the courage to comment, so I didn't want to stop while I was on a roll. My profile was recently updated. Thanks,

Steve

Steve, you might try out the width of the 21 mattress before you dismiss the 21. We've always had king or queen but wanted a no-crawl-over layout.

We went to a rally specifically to check out a 21 and found gracious owners who were quite willing to let us flop on their 54 inch bed; decided it really didn't feel cramped at all - and I'm over 6 ft.

Thanks, Charlie. I will reconsider. I really would prefer the 21 if I could live with with the double bed. We travel with a 75 lb. white Labrador Retriever and occasionally a crazy African Grey parrot that can talk your arm off, so I can use the extra 2 feet. The parrot loves the dog and talks to her all day long!

Steve, I've thought about making the under bed storage of a 21 into a comfy space for 2 Jack Russell terriers. The Irish Setter will no doubt claim the dinette as a bed space.
