Yes but we can stay home and get things done on the long weekend then go camping when it's less crowded in the week! Hooray for retirement!

Since I have been retired it seems like there is a stat holiday every other week and the number of people i see lounging around on Robson street in Vancouver suggests there is a lot of spare time out there now.

Recently the B.C. government implemented a new stat holiday (family day - I think it was Feb. 6) At a minimum Glenn and I should get retroactive pay for missing out on this when we were working. All we get now are longer lineups at the Home Depot.

Notice how a lot of the threads are morphing into Retirement Threads?

Notice Mark how more of us are nearing retirement or are retired, for example since I joined the forum two years ago both Alf and I retired, and we are both enjoying our "Escape Hatches" in the sunny south ( well not so sunny here today ).

Enjoyment is critical Adrian. Not part of this thread but just to keep you in the loop (since you are on line). The 5.0 is heading out to ETI tomorrow for Bob's brand new A/C and a complete systems check. He is supposed to be here to pick it up the first week of April. I will contact you then to complete our deal.

Alf that's the wind which arrived here Monday afternoon when we were in the pool at 29c. I had hurry back to our site to drop the awning, then it fell to about 4c overnight, it's better today but overcast, no pool again. Hoping to finally get to South Padre Island next week where we really can wave to you across the gulf!

Thanks Mark for keeping me updated.

Adrian, if you get to South Padre, you might want to try the Sea Ranch Restaurant. Good seafood, locally caught for the most part. The Mussels, Escargot and Frog Legs (although not 'seafood') are particularly good. I also never pass up on a dozen fresh shucked gulf oysters.

Thanks Robert for the suggestion. I just booked Admiralty resort in your town per your suggestion for one night March 4. I put Beth on a plane the next morning to Toronto while I spend a week puttering back to KS.

We didn't end up going through San Antonio on the way down, shot straight south from San Marcos.

Having spent 45 years successfully avoiding them, I had a trusted friend swear up and down that I should try them both sometime.... In my defense I think I have seen them exactly twice on the menu.

Its on my bucket list.

You can always add raw oysters on the half shell, a Maryland delicacy.

A delicacy here too Jim. See the rest of my post #27. Fresh lemon squeezed over them, a saltine, a little fresh horseradish and some cocktail sauce....dang it, now I'm hungry.
