And they say that people are so busy these days that they don't have time to shop for groceries or cook dinner. 80 posts and counting.

Hi Glenn
Whoever says that there’s no time for shopping or cooking has No time management skills. No personal drive, and No understanding of the thousands of personal satisfaction opportunities available in the free world every day. Just my opinion. Got to go check my mouse traps right now, and make sure I have beer in the garage cooler so I can enjoy some football today, run my dog, go to town cause they have a deal on motor oil, and buy a few bananas at the store. It’s 7:20 in the AM and I’d be worrying about burning daylight but the sun is not up here, yet.

I've stopped counting or trying to understand how VINs work.

For what it's worth, Tammy told me that, in their ETI record-keeping system, our Escape trailer would always be known as "2017 053", the 53rd trailer they built within their 2017 model year. The fact that it happens to be a 21 is inconsequential.

When I started this all I was curious about was total number of Escapes built. I still don't know that but can now discuss VIN's with anyone.

David, our E21 was completed on December 9, 2018 and thus has a 2019 VIN #. I asked ETI about this and was told that any trailer built in December will carry the next year's VIN number. Last 3 digits of our 2019 VIN are 005.

as mentioned earlier, Dec 1 is the normal change/switch over date for new models, give or take a few days.

The only ones Vin's I dislike are the ones that some dummy sticks a cork in the neck. Why make it that difficult to get at? Give me the old reliable screw top!

Is it a 2018 model year VIN, or a 2019 model year VIN? The model year is indicated by the 10th character in the VIN: 2018 would be "J" and 2019 would be "K". It will be preceded by "2E9TF6B5" and one more character, and followed by "C068005".

With any luck, the title correctly reflects the model year in the VIN (which should be "K" for 2019). So the restart in numbering is at the beginning of the model year (Dec 1), not the calendar year, which makes sense.

Brian, yes, that is my understanding. Our VIN # is KCO ***005. So, I guess there are 4 2019 Escape trailers out there with a VIN numbers KCO 001-004 and a James Bond trailer with 007.

Thanks - yes, that works.

Although it's KC068 001 through KC068 004 (K=2019, C=Chilliwack, 068=Escape Trailer Industries).

Our early Escape

We first met Reace and Tammy at the Abbotsford RV Show in January 2003. Then we visited the first location of the "factory" in the renovated chicken barn in rural Chilliwack. We placed our order on April 15, 2004.

The build began about late August, but the factory was now in the industrial area near the Chilliwack Prospera Centre Arena but with the body fibreglass molding done a seperate site.

Living 30 minutes away we visited every Friday after work, observing progress and adding changes. Try accessing the assembly areas now...lol.

On October 2, 2004 we took delivery of the 30th Escape built. The last 6 digits of the VIN are 068030. The price we paid to Escape was $17,679 Canadian. Add in the taxes and the unit cost us $20,242 Canadian. Would sell it to you for that today...ha ha, but after 15 years of near trouble free and wonderful travels (except for the north's Dempster Highway's shaking creating fridge ammonia leaks in 2017. Reace and Tammy graciously installed a new fridge for far less than our local RV dealerships wanted.) we are aiming for 15 more years.

Yes, welcome to the forum. You must have set a record for the longest interval between owning an Escape and posting on the forum.

Glad to hear your experiences have been good all this time.

Now, being really curious and unable to determine from my paperwork what number made is my 19, I have to ask. What is my trailer's' manufacturing number?

Ordered 14 May 13, Received 19 Sep 13.
QAI Nameplate is Q00117138.
VIN: 2E9TF6B23DC068785.

Thanks for that, Pat. So, the last 3 of the VIN indicates when the trailer left the production line.
