Hi all.
Wondering if it will be OK to drive out to ETI on the 24th to have a look.I guess I would have to call them tomorrow to see if it will be kind of an open house day.Our mind is set on a 21 but still curious about the developments on the other models.
Allan.

It would be best to give them a call and see what they can do for you if you come out to the factory that day. Normally they have someone available to talk to but could be rather busy that day judging by all he positive response on this site. Making an appointment ensures that someone will be available to show you the various display models.

But, it makes it more likely that Canadians come south to spend there money, if they can buy more.

Should it ever get to par, you would then know just what us poor Canucklehads pay.

Hasn't been that long since they were par. Like the stock market, where the rate is going next is anyone's guess.

Heck, I'm going to be out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! Can somebody dispatch a carrier pigeon with the news?

(yep, I got the optional ETI pontoon package and we're on the way to the FGRV down under rally).

Quite possibly due to the recent price increase for a barrel of crude oil.....

Canadian dollar was 77 cents to US dollar yesterday. That's an improvement of 9 cents in less than two months.

Not necessarily an improvement, unless you are Canadian, but an increase. I'm afraid if it continues, Escape will lose some US customers come 4/1.

I wonder if the website will be updated at midnight on the 23rd? Previous discussions were around 4/1 opening hours but the unveiling time has not be fixed?

not necessarily, Escape can always reverse the price increase back to the 2016 price before the exchange imbalance created the need for a price increase!
80 cents is the magic cutoff in the exchange rate for the deposit for this camper and 1 to 1 could very well be a full halt for the final purchase.
$2500 CDN deposit = $2000 USA deposit @ 80 cents...assuming the brain has had enough caffeine this morning, that $ delta in the case of a decreasing exchange rate imbalance allows a decreasing loss to zero in the event of a 1 to 1 exchange rate on the non-refundable $500 CDN deposit portion, and if a full halt of purchase before production next year is a decision point.
Of course one could also lock in the better exchange rate by paying the base price sooner rather than later.

Well said. I picked up my first ever RV, a 17B 10 days ago, but I too find this upcoming announcement exciting!

Remember though that much, likely most, of the cost increase is due to the improved standard features, and only partially due to the increase in purchase costs of some of the US sourced components. This means that should the exchange rate close a lot, only a small amount of the increase would possibly be reduced.

Still, at any advantage over par, US customers will still be getting a better deal than we do.

Exchange rate roulette, we played it last year after ordering in April. Made some good decisions and missed some guesses, but overall felt we did pretty well by the time we finished sending payments. Whatever one does you just need to execute when you feel it's right and then don't beat yourself up if it inches back up. It fell below 20% last April right after we ordered, but we just patiently waited to send payments and it came back in our favor tremendously. Will it be better later in the year, who knows....

Same with anything relying on market timing. Real estate deals are much the same as exchange rates, buy low, sell high. Of the dozens of deals I have made, some were big winners, some mediocre, and a couple I was just lucky to break even on. (Don't get me started on the ones I missed )

The thing is that you do well overall, not necessarily get the very best deal, and I think you identified that well, Greg.

Exchange rate was between 6 & 9% when we paid for our 21... No regrets.

We really don't understand all the whining about the exchange , prices , etc . The product is what it costs and if you can afford it or not . This company ,Escape caterers more to a customer then any other company we have dealt with . The product is pretty good also. You can always buy used , get something else more in line with what you can afford . A lot of us paid a lot more for our Escapes . Would of changed our minds ? After looking for more then 2 years we are still overall happy we went with Escape and are glad with our purchase . Is there other RV 's out there we would like to have ? Of course , but for our money we did pretty good . Great trailer for our money . Pat

It is easy for a Canadian to not feel too sad for someone only getting 30% off rather than 40%!
