The other Escape Forum

I just received an Email from ETI that they have created their own Forum. I just checked in and it is very new so not much going on but it looks as if it has some promise.

We can ask a question direct to ETI members of the forum, or so it appears. Perhaps a direct question to Karl on the stovetop problem we have.

My thoughts exactly, Bo.
I just posted on their forum, asking them to respond and comment.

I don't see your post. Does that mean ETI is vetting them?

Not in the 'standard' forum format but I guess we'll adapt to it.

A manufacturer run and moderated forum. What could go wrong?

They can do as they wish of course, but this was started so they can filter from the company's point of view.

Why don't we give it a chance and see where it goes before we flame it.

Fair enough, but it's natural to ask, why was it started?

Many here have been asking for something similar. Many comments asking if ETI folks read our posts here. I have seen a few comments form Karl here but very few. Perhaps this was the result of all the complaining we did.

Be interesting to watch developments for positive results. It shouldn't be long before we know if it is customer effective or company self serving. More likely , some of both.

I posted something on the new forum- seeking information. It'd be good if useful information is made available there.

I asked a couple of questions in an early version of Oliver's equivalent captive forum. They were apparently embarrassing to Oliver, because they were deleted without explanation. ETI is not Oliver and it would be unreasonable to assume that they will behave the same way, but if you create a forum under your own control...

There are ETI accounts in this forum, too; they have started threads and participated in others. You can send a Private Message to them, including Karl, and it seems reasonable to me to request a response in the open forum.

Here it is: Stove & Cooktops
It appears that the ETI forum admin created threads for various areas of discussion, with no content, and Don posted his question one of those.

To ETI's credit, there is a response. It is up to each reader to assess the depth of uselessness of this response, and level of lack of understanding of the issue displayed by the respondent.

Some years back when I had a small business, I was taught that businesses should value customer feedback, good or bad. When several customers complain about a problem, maybe there really IS a problem. As we learned, Reace, et al. ,listened to the input and many improvements came about, no?

You are exactly right. The difference is the Honchos @ Escape now are merely employees of KV and none are going to stick their neck out to reply to any concern without approval from KV- which has never happened to date. Kinda like in a restaurant where the owner/operator has a passion for the business vs. a chain with employees with a laser view towards profits.

Over the years we have encouraged ETI to post here and have provided them with advertising space (gratis) but have scrupulously maintained a neutral posting stance as we are unaffiliated with ETI. This keeps the trust level here high as posts are as members intended and not edited or controlled to manicure a good reputation.

Members here are free to explore issues and solutions to owners problems without fear that posts will be sanitised to scuttle problems. On balance it's worked well as member can help members, ETI can weigh in and Escapes are such great rigs that reputation management is not a substantial issue.

I used to look at Apple's forum. I noticed that postings critical of the company's products would disappear after a while, especially if there was no resolution to the problem stated.
