I typically close my eyes when faced with the oscillating saw (in the movie screen)! I am an expert with the credit-card saw but will try to use the hacksaw if that fails.

Why not cut them both so that both wheels start from the same level? Otherwise one wheel is supporting (ever so slightly) more weight than the other. Also, if you cut them both, you needn't worry about which goes between the wheels and which doesn't. And cutting them is simple.

A circular saw will do the trick, as will a nice sharp hand saw of any sort.
