HP sauce on steak fries - YUM! Got hooked on it in the UK. By the way, ever tried fries cooked in Duck Fat?

That that can't be fixed with ketchup can be fixed with HP sauce.

I'd say that you must be the cook in the family but then since she wants the hash browns, maybe it's because it will save her time.

And only a little ketchup for me.

I'm not the cook, I don't have a kitchen. My wife has one but I'm not allowed to touch her prized pots and pans.

Actually she's just being practical. Sometimes on a long trip, without a chance to stock up on supplies those hash browns might come in very handy.

Oh Jim, did I mention that I also put ketchup on my fried eggs.

All you need for seasoning is cooking onion, salt and pepper.

You should try it Doug. It doesn't taste heavy like bacon grease can. Makes the crispiest fries ever.

Pub near me lost my business several years ago when the waitress wanted to argue that the deep-fried potato chunks on my plate were "hash browns", as called for in the menu.
She said, "well, we call them hash-browns".
Well, I don't.

The ones you're describing are called "home fries" around here. I agree - proper hash browns use shredded potatoes.
