We're real Texans too, but we just can't do soda anymore. Hate the sugar.

I drink a Dr. Pepper every couple of years.
What does it taste like?

Yeah, not a pop drinker and never have been. Just can't handle the sweet drink with terrible taste. I used to have the odd dark and dirty, but haven't had one in years. Any alcohol should be drank straight up, or not at all. [emoji16]

I've been running Starbucks House Blend Decaf in my Aeropress. Caffeinated coffee makes my stomach feel too acidic, but the decaf sits fine with my innards.

But caffein does not have anything to do with acidity. Caffein is more likely affecting your nervous system. Caffein is actually considered a drug, and it is also the most abused substance in the world.

I personally know of nobody over 30 that drinks any kind of pop. Mostly sugar, water and artificial flavour. So many good things to drink as an alternative. [emoji16]

I do love ice cream, but have really backed off on it in past years.

Trying to stay within 10 lbs of my ideal weight is tough. [emoji849][emoji41]

OK, for those of us that like coffee and the convenience of K-cup makers and will drink about any old crap here is a suggestion.
First Angelino's make an quite good K-cup that is at least $.25 cheaper, per cup, than coffee from Keurig. Most Keurig K-cups are months old when they get to your home, Angelino's claim 3 to 5 days from the roaster and you can taste the difference.

https://angelinos.com/

Also the K-cups can be recycled. For the process and an opener if you desire try.

https://recycleacup.com.

A morning toast to all!

Aeropress. Makes a great cup of espresso or americano. The cleanup is a breeze as well.

I also had issues with the draw being too much and tripping the power using our microwave.
Changing the battery cables to the largest sized (1 I believe) fixed it. The longer battery cable run is very problematic.

Of course not. I like my Listeria as well as the next guy......almost as much as my coffee! Actually, Blue Bell is my favorite brand of ice cream. I was rather disappointed when it was “off line” for a while. Thankfully, it is plentiful once again.

I may try that, but as I have previously stated, my taste buds do not work as well as they once did. I usually purchase Peet’s K-cups, either Big Bang (medium roast) or Major Dickason (dark roast). My local Target carries both. Occasionally, I will purchase Marley Buffalo Soldier (medium/dark roast), but I have had to get that through Amazon, not the best source for freshness. Drinking Buffalo Soldier brings out the Reggae in me!

it seems I'm always giving up something- I don't drink soft drinks, no ice cream , no flour, no added sugar, no deep fried foods, and limiting alcohol to a couple drinks a week. But still tough to loose weight although I feel much better. One cup of black coffee a day.

If not roasting my own beans, I usually buy from local roasters. One home business roaster has good stuff at a good price.

Nothing beats a fairly fresh roast with the beans ground immediately before extraction, no matter your brewing method.

I ground beans ahead of a 5 day canoeing trip with six of us a couple years ago thinking it would be a convenient thing. There was some left when I got home. I drank some, then made some coffee from a fresh grind of the same beans which was a vast improvement. The previously ground stuff went in the compost. [emoji16]

I take a good manual grinder on every travel note, by plane, by car and trailer, or in the backcountry.

I had a good friend who’s spouse put him on a similar diet. He tells folks “This diet will help me live another 15 years, but it’ll seem like 30!” 🤪

Here's the best I found and have been using for a year. It's a Keurig brewing machine designed for hotel rooms so they don't have to worry about overloading their circuits. It draws only 700 watts but the downside is that it takes a few minutes to brew a single cup, which when we're out boondocking is not an issue .
