On the other hand, I had bad luck with a ruggedized Jensen TV made for RV use. It was expensive ($300), comparatively heavy, and it finally broke. I wouldn't recommend a Jensen.
Bad news... the Insignia people changed the TV recently, both the 19" and 24" model now have a "built in" transfer, so a 12v plug no longer works

Having seen a number of different TVs "made" for RV use, I'm still not impressed by any of them. A $129-$139 Samsung 19" LED TV will blow all of them away in terms of picture quality, and you can also nix the external transformer and connect to a 12V plug. Why spend $250-$300 for an inferior picture?

I agree, our inexpensive 19" Samsung does a great job. But when I bought it last year it seemed like even that brand was discontinuing using the external transformer. The ones that were available seemed to be discontinued. They're probably still available but I suspect that at some point they won't be available any more.

We have forgone the TV entirely in favor of our computer. We sit side by side on the bed, our backs supported by two of these https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/sto...ve=43742631709.

Then we place the 15" computer on a box between us. The visual field of this arrangement is the same as viewing a 32" computer mounted on the opposite wall and it uses a lot less precious space.

I agree, a laptop with a TV stick can be a substitute for dedicated TV. We've done that for years. But the bulkhead mounted TV is more convenient and can be viewed from both the bed and the dinette without any preparation. But I still have my TV stick with me, always nice to have a back-up.

For the little we watched any TV or recorded movies before, a laptop did us good. My laptop now is much smaller which for most purposes is great, but not for two people watching movies. I do still use it, but play to the 24" TV which is much better for two viewing.

Furrion TV

I haven’t seen this TV model mentioned but see that it is used in Oliver trailers. Figured I’d put it out there as an option for anyone looking for a 12V TV with integral DVD player.

I remember seeing a DVD in a museum once.

I kid. I just use one connected to my laptop if I want to play a DVD. This is rare though, and will get rarer in days to come with being able to store a library movies on a small storage device.

Only if one makes them so. Mine still work just fine and I see no reason to toss them just to have the latest in technology. But having any new technology that comes along does appeal to some folks.

Edited: I should have added that I also drive a twenty-five-year-old truck and see no reason to replace that very soon either. (And why can I no longer insert those smiley thingies without it posting just the URL?)

So maybe at the next Escape Rally we can organize an 8-track and cassette tape music swap! I'll bring mine! (But just the ones I'm willing to part with! ) I wonder if those young Border Patrol officers who have never known analog music storage will think they are some newfangled contraband and confiscate them.
