Dometic Cassette awning adjustment

Good Day folks.
I'm trying to adjust the lateral arm assembly. Due to a heavy snow load the arms are rubbing on the lower back rail when it closes. So according to the instructions, i need to loosen the tilt adjustment screws. Problem is that the fabric awning which is above the top screws does not allow enough space to access the screws with an allen wrench. Is the only solution to cut my allen wrench shorter so it will fit underneath the awning?
