Forum search results

Whenever I do a "search", it comes back telling me it found "XXX" number of results (could be from 10 - 1000); however, I can only see about eight listed. That darn "disclaimer" box shows up at the bottom and blocks not only the rest of the search results, but the page number bar so I can't get any further. Anyone have a cure for this or know of something I need to set so I can see the entire list of search results? Thanks.

What are you using for a computer, I do not see the same as you on my Windows laptop.

I'm using a Dell home computer with Windows 7. This is a new phenomenon as it wasn't happening in the past ... just within the last several months.

I use a Dell laptop with Windows 7, am not having that problem so it is probably specific to some program running on your computer. I am using Chrome, what browser are you using - that could be the variable.

Using Chrome as well. For an experiment, just tried opening the forum in Explorer with the same result. It's nothing earth-shattering ... just frustrating, especially when I'm trying to find a particular thread.

Perhaps instead of searching within the EscapeForum, use the Google custom search. This searches EscapeForum threads only: https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=015066...95:46zkzu4-jj0

I use it all the time, in a separate tab.

In looking at the results, it seems the link only takes me to the FiberglassRV forum. Is there another for the Escape forum?

BTW, just took a screen shot of what I see when I do a search through the "Search Site/Google" on the forum.

I'm using Chrome on Windows, and I don't see any kind of disclaimer box... and there are not any pop-ups blocked. This is presumably some feature of the specific PC and browser configuration, rather than anything to do with the forum... unless you are getting that stupid box that all forums from this operator display in some cases (I normally don't get it any more).

There is an advantage to using the forums regular search tool: you can search for threads or posts by a specific member; Google doesn't know which member is the creator of a thread or author of a post.

Google search works well, but you don't need to use Google's Custom Search Engine. You can
  • just put "site:escapeforum.org" in front of your search terms in the usual Google.com search page
  • just put "site:escapeforum.org" in front of your search terms in the address bar in Chrome and other browsers that are set up to do a Google search
  • use the Search Site / Google box in the Search menu of the forum
