"New Posts" working?

I observe something that makes me wonder if there's a bug hiding in the woodwork...

When I look at the forum list, I see a few forums with the "New Posts" symbol showing. I go in to each of these, read all the threads that have unread posts, then reload the forum list. All of the same forums still show the "New Posts" symbol. If I go in to each, none of them show any unread threads.

It's not until I hit the "Mark Forums Read" button that the "New Posts" symbols get cleared from the forums.

I would expect the "New Posts" symbol to only show when there are threads with unread posts. But that's not the way it seems to be working.

Is the way it's behaving intentional, or is it a bug?

I'm trying to figure out why under "Recent Threads" it appeared that there were several unread threads and I left to check email and when I came back there were none indicated as unread.
And, I clicked on one, went to last unread and then scrolled back through several that I hadn't read.
I may be a moderator, but I don't have a clue, so don't ask me.

The thread shows as read, but the forum shows as having unread posts within it. Enter the forum and it shows all threads as read.

I found the issue, it was a setting in the Admin Control Panel for the way sessions are handled. It's been updated so that the system will know more precisely what has or has not been read. Please give it a little time to learn and it should be working properly.

I also updated the list of Recent Threads in the right hand column so they would take you to the most recent unread post instead just back to post #1. This way you will be able to click on a discussion and jump to the right place and start reading.

Thanks for your feedback and patience while we get everything dialed in. I think there are over 1,000 setting so it could take a while to get settled and clear out our punch list.

You are doing a great job Andy. It is great that you are taking such an active role in updating and improving the forum. I really like the new look and feel.
